wow,

This review is from: Knives (Audio CD)
Finally picked up the album today, and it's AWESOME. The sticker on the package is right, you have not heard AIDEN like this before. It's hard, in your face, fast...and those that were thrown off from their last album, "Conviction", this is TOTALLY opposite of it, and a darker, more evil version of what they used to sound like before the last disc. Did I have a problem with the last album? Not really, but it's not what I knew AIDEN was. However, they're artists, and they're allowed to toy around with their emotions. It was like a glam version of what they once were. But, this isn't a review of the last album. It's a review of this one. It's fast, rough, in your face, evil...F***in awesome disc.
My favorite tracks on here are: Crusifiction (hands down my favorite one...maybe my favorite Aiden one yet) and The Asylum. Now, the whole album is great, songs that don't drag too long, a creepy interlude ("Portrait"), awesome booklet. All in all, a serious step up for Aiden. Their darkest disc yet, best disc yet, and I can't wait to see them on Warped Tour this year!

Kind of an angry album full of cussing and punk angst...leaning in the direction of posthardcore/screamo. Kinda gothy...lots of pounding drum beats and the production is good. Just an ok album I suppose when heard from begining to end.

Did someone run over the band's dog?,

I don't know what sort of bad experience occurred to these guys, but they obviously hate all organized religion, and want to kill stuff. That's cool, but not what I expected from Aiden. In short, this is a fast, angry, pointed album that lacks the complexity of their previous work. If punk had a baby with death metal, the result would be Knives. For me, the songs seem immature and uninteresting. I am disappointed with this purchase; I wish that I would have listened to the samples before buying.
