Maybe it was just a coincidence, but the first job I wrote a cover letter for using this book is the first one that called me for an interview, and ultimately hired me for. Even though there weren't any specific example letters for my position (biology major, research laboratory assistant), I was still able to pick and chose phrases to craft a persuasive cover letter. I really think you should give it a try!

Martin Yaes is one of my favorite authors. He provides valuable information to people seeking asssitance in writing an effective cover letter. The Cover Letter is the sales pitch for the resume. Great book!!

This book is a great tool that I've used while consulting others. Many people don't realize how important the cover letter is...sometimes it's as important if not more important than your resume or your interview...do you know why??? If you don't write an interesting cover letter, then your resume may end up getting filed in "file 13" a.k.a the trash.

This book was purchased as an update for the same book that was 10 years older. It is very helpful and current. Gives you cover letters for both mail and e-mail sending.

I haven't finished reading every chapter, but the chapters I have read are excellent. I can't wait to use the suggestions! This is the best book I have read on cover letters! I bought several books from resume's to cover letters and interview books and I have to say, this is the best one I have read. My suggestion is to purchase this book.

As a manager, I review many cover letters a year. I would consider most of the example covers in this book of poor quality, with many downright "corney". I found nothing in this book useful to me personally (my focus was on creating on a good cover for a senior management position). This book is simply too broad in scope to have anything substantial to say about any one area. I'd re-title it "Beginning Cover Letters", and that would be generous.

I'd advise anyone considering purchasing this book to thumb through it at a physical bookstore first (but always buy from Amazon if you decide you like it :-) ).

Most companys want cover letters now. I don't care how smart you are if you try to write it yourself you will fail. This book teaches you to brag on yourself which most people have a hard time doing. But the purpose of a cover letter is to sell yourself to the company you are seeking to get a job with. Buy this book, read it, look at the cover letters. If you can't think of sentences take various lines out of the letters (don't copy a letter), and make paragraphs that make sense. Don't be afraid to brag on yourself and get that job!!!

I used this book right out of college and it helped me tremendously to put together a professional cover letter. Now as a professional career advisor, I share it with my students and alums. The book has good illustrations as to what the current trends are. I like bullets and headings on cover letters. No one wants to read a cover letter that looks like someone's book report or research paper. This books helps you to get started because most people don't know how to get started or what to say. The book gets you started and gives you valuable examples to follow. After that, you have to personalize it and make your cover letter a valuable tool to make yourself stand out.

This book helped me create many very professional cover letters. The greatest thing about this book is that it covers almost all the documents you need throughout the whole process except for resumes. I've already used it in networking letters, and thank you letters. If you are not very good at sentence structure, this book has some awesome phrases to help you out for any situation.
