5.0 out of 5 stars Great Content, easy to understand

I never believed that such books can help someone get a job, but actually this one was very nice to read.
The idea is not to memorize the answer it gave, but actually it builds the base that makes you prepare answers according to your knowledge and previous experiences, make you understand the concept behind those questions
Very well return with easy...

2.0 out of 5 stars Putting words in MY mouth? C'mon now . . .
This book is more than a bit superficial, and anyone who uses these "answers" can be spotted a mile off by professional interviewers. Read Martin's other advice, but pass on his answers. 1.0 out of 5 stars No better than the 1990 version?, November 17, 2008

I tried using Yate's approach in the mid '90s. It nearly prevented me from getting a good job, so unnatural and glib were my interview responses. Based on the negative comments here, reactions are still the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, February 10, 2008
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Knock 'em Dead: The Ultimate Job-Seekers' Handbook) (Paperback)
I read an older version of this book back in 1995. I interviewed for a highly technical engineering job and to my total surprise about 70% of the three hour interview was covered in this book (I was on my own with the technical questions). I got the job in a research department at a major university.

Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars Superficial, July 1, 2005
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Knock 'em Dead: The Ultimate Job-Seekers' Handbook) (Paperback)
Giving this book 2 stars is generous, but it did have some useful websites at the end. I found this book to be so superficial that it was as if the author thought that anyone who read it and used these strategies, as well as the interviewers, were very stupid. How can you possibly give someone an answer to a question that is asked, without knowing anything about his specific situation... and if you can give these general answers, shouldn't the interviewer quickly recognize that they are planned and rehearsed? Any company that would hire someone with these answers is not a company I would like to work for.

I read the 1998 version and applied it and it paid off beautifully. His tips then were helpful even in 2004.

5.0 out of 5 stars I got it from the library..., March 14, 2006
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Knock 'em Dead: The Ultimate Job-Seekers' Handbook) (Paperback)
I always try to get the book from the library before I make the purchase. I liked this book very much. It gives you lots of questions, and a brief explanation of the background of the question. If the question is stupid, it will tell you so. And the references of this book is really helpful. I have decided to purchase the 2006 edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great answers to hard questions, March 26, 2004
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Knock 'em Dead: The Ultimate Job-Seekers' Handbook) (Paperback)
This book does a great job of helping you answer the most difficult interview questions. As a training manager, who trains managers and executives on how to interview, I feel I am qualified to say this book works.

This book is a wonderful resource once you get the interview. This leaves us with the question, "How do you get an interview?" Simple, know the type of job you want and pursue it, if you do not know what type of job you want you may want to read the classic, "How to find your dream job and make it a reality." By Jason McClure.

Read this book, and practice for your job interviews and you will be successful in your job hunt.

This is a thoughtful and helpful book.
No other book handles the deeper strategies of interviewing
quite so well...

The job market isn't getting better anytime soon.
This book will help you make the best of bad economic times.
Good Luck!
