Just generally disappointed.....,
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Hardcover)
and so very tired of the same-old same-old. Single woman, money problems, mother problems, boyfriend problems, best friend is a great gay guy---and in this case add a very snobby (in a weird way since she's broke and MUST SHOP CHEAP BUT BUYS ONLY THE BEST)attitude. The "cutesy" lines don't begin to make up for the boring, repetitiveness of plot lines.
The utter hatred shown from mother to daughter I found overboard, and really didn't like most of the characters in the entire book!! I am now even wondering if I liked the main character at all... I guess I've read too many of like cozy mysteries--must definitely start to rethink my entertainment level. Or maybe some authors out there will find a much different, yet entertaining plot line...I will wait with baited breathe.

Witty and fun!!!!,
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Hardcover)
This book is a delightful read! You won't be disappointed with the purchase.
I adore Pollero's Finley Anderson Tanner. Not only is this book well plotted, the author has created a witty, honest with her own feelings character, it's like gaining a new friend. Finley's sarcasm is a hoot! And I love how she deals with her 'I know what's best for you' mother! I can't wait for FAT CHANCE and more of Finley's crazy life.

Murder and mayhem in Palm Beach is fun!,

This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Hardcover)
Whoever thought murder and mayhem in Palm Beach could be so entertaining? Rhonda Pollero's second Finley Anderson Tanner mystery, "Knock `em Dead," reacquaints readers with the queen of fashion mavens, her quirky entourage and a cadre of characters who might just be capable of murder. Enjoy this memorable mystery. I did! And can't wait for Finley's next foray into finding out who-dun-it under the Florida sun.

Book 2 of the Finley Anderson Tanner Mystery series. Such fun - packed with entertainment and adventure. Finley, the paralegal, is enjoying an evening at home when her friend Jane hammers on the door. Jane is covered in blood and yelling "he is dead". The plot just gets better from there. Finley and her group of friends, along with Liam (the PI) and Patrick (the "boyfriend") are all involved. Some very interesting surprises for all readers of this series. I will start Book 3 in the very near future.

What a SCREAM! LOVED IT!,
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Hardcover)
Loved this funny mystery. LOVED Finley! You gotta love a girl who will put herself at the mercy of her diva mother for the sake of a friend in need. Laughed my way through this. So fun watching Finley get in and out of trouble. She has this amazing combination of toughness and vulnerability that makes you root for her. Can't wait for the next Finley, so I'll just have to re-read this one and LAUGH AGAIN!

If you like Janet Evanovich and you can't wait for her to issue a new book, the Finley Anderson Tanner mysteries will keep you entertained. While she may not be as good as Janet, she's quite close. This book is a fun, entertaining read that will keep you interested to the last page. Like Janet, the author weaves a tiny bit of fun romance into the story to keep you engaged in the mystery. I'm not a huge fan of romance novels but this book strikes the perfect balance.

Laughed out loud,

Come on. Stupid to knock the *author* for typos. How about critiquing the *publisher*??? The few typos were easy to ignore. I total loved Finley's shopping obsession, and her hysterical funny lack of ambition was a hoot. KNOCK 'EM DEAD is laugh out loud funny. This one goes right on my bookshelf with the rest of my Rhonda Pollero/Kelsey Roberts keepers.

Errors,
By
This review is from: Knock 'em Dead (Hardcover)
This book should be a two or three star book, even though the plot is derivative of Janet Evanovitch (gal on the edge of the legal system with two unsuitable boyfriends). It is well paced and the characters are funny.
However, I am only going to give it one star because of the obvious errors in it -- repeated use of "co-council" instead of "co-counsel" and saying a claim was dismissed "with prejudice" and could be brought again, when it should have been "without prejudice." The errors are not limited to legal terminology. Ms. Pollero can't get math right either. She says a character's blook alcohol level was "point three" but he wasn't drunk. I'd bet she meant "point zero three." At point three, he'd be dead. Just one page later, she says a bruise was "11.2 by 9.2 centimeters" but then says it was "roughly one-half-inch rectangular." I'd bet she meant millimeters, not centimeters. These errors completely turned me off. The author needs to be more careful, and she needs help from her editors. I doubt I read another book by Ms. Pollero.

not bad, a few holes,

I enjoyed this book, knowing that it was just going to be a pleasant read. There were a few holes in the plot where you wondered..."Why did she do that?" and there were a number of typos that were a little confusing. Don't buy the hardback, get it from the library.
