5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational!
On SHeDaisy's second album, the three sisters, Kristyn, Kassidy and Kelsi Osborn, belt out sassy tunes and deep, heartfelt lyrics. The lead singer, Kristyn, wrote the songs "Keep Me" and "The First To Let Go" and co-wrote all of the other songs. So, obviously, these are some very talented ladies!

I love the beautiful tranquillity of "Rush."...

3.0 out of 5 stars Coming along.....
I admit - this album is not nearly as solid as their first - but it still has promise.

I loved "Mine all Mine", "All Over You", "I Wish I Were the Rain" and several others. The music is still wonderful to sing and dance to in my kitchen and on the road.

Expecting soaring performances and comparison against an already-well established...

I love the beautiful tranquillity of "Rush." It's the best on the album. I also really enjoy the bold song "Get Over Yourself." It's very fun and cheeky! Other outstanding songs on the CD are "Mine All Mine," "I Wish I Were the Rain," "All Over You" and "I'm Lit."

Overall, "Knock On the Sky" is an excellent sophomore release from SHeDaisy. I recommend this album very highly. It's amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars The girls of SHeDAISY got it all right, June 27, 2002
This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
With this cd, the girls of SHeDAISY have solidified themselves as their own genre. While certainly not a pop group, they can't quite be categorized as country either, as these girls have meshed pop, rock and country into something that is amazingly unique. With solid lyrics, and constant harmonizing between the three girls, the expertly played instruments are well accompanied.

Although it seems that a few songs follow the same formula (which is in no way a bad one, mind you), this cd keeps the freshness and surprises coming. "I'm Lit" grasps the `girl on the edge' theme both musically and lyrically for a surprising second track. "Get Over Yourself" is one of my favorite SHe songs. This absolutely awesome in-your-face song has tons of energy, complete with a tight guitar solo as well.
Normally, I don't like slow songs. But even after the energetic "Get Over Yourself" I was blown away by the beauty of "Rush." This is one of the most heartfelt songs I've ever heard, which is best enjoyed when the lyrics are read while listening.
But my absolute fave track is "Turn Me On". The energy in this track is unbelievable. The bass guitar part totally floors me when I listen to this song, and the lyrics are absolutely hilarious.

I HIGHLY recommend "Knocking on the Sky." With funny are heartfelt lyrics, great vocals with constant harmonizing, along with plenty of great instrumental moments, it clearly sets SheDAISY apart from the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars These Girls Can Sing!, August 2, 2002

This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
Occasionally an act will grab my attention that is outside of the blues genre. Shedaisy is one of those acts. Shedaisy's refreshing and sometimes humorous, take on their life experiences is something to behold. Yes, it's easy to bash this disc if you bought it expecting to hear something purely country. Plain and simple, this is not country in the strictest sense. But Shedaisy realizes that their brand of music, a kind of pop/country mix, reaches more than those wearing cowboy hats, creased lee jeans and silver belt buckles the size of manhole covers. To try to pigeonhole acts now days is more and more difficult and really nonsensical as it overlooks what the artist is trying to convey. In this case, these girls are immensely talented. Not only did Kristyn Osborn write or co write every song on this disc but the complexity of each tune clearly transcends the simplistic hooks found in your everyday pop and/or country disc. Also, to their credit is the fact that they are all multi instrumentalists and harmonize beautifully. If you want country, find Shania, if you want to have little fun and an enjoyable disc, buy this. After all, where else can you hear three Mormon girls singing joyously about being lit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album! Well-Worth the 3 Years, June 27, 2002
By
ANTHONY ALLEN (Burbank, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
Knock on the Sky is an excellent album that has a perfect mix of tracks to satisfy any listener. Kristyn Osborn proves herself to be an extremely talented song writer, creating touching ones like "Rush" and "First to Let Go" and upbeat-themed gems like "I'm Lit" and "Turn Me On." Kassidy, Kelsi and Krisytn's harmonies are beautifully demonstrated on this album also. Knock on the Sky is more mature content-wise, than The Whole SHeBANG, in that many of the songs were written based on Kristyn's rough times with a divorce. Overall the album is perfect and was well worth the wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knock On The Sky - An album like no other!, June 25, 2002
By
This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
Three years in the waiting for SHeDAISY's follow up to "The Whole Shebang"...and as the saying goes, `good things come to those who wait'. But "good" really doesn't apply when speaking of this sister trio's latest release, Knock On The Sky. It's safe to say that words do not exist to describe this emotion-packed and yet, exceedingly delectable album.

The exceptionally, intricate lyrics weave you through a myriad of emotions and take you for a whirlwind ride throughout the album. It's not often to come by a song that pulls you into its lyrics...wraps it's melody around you, and inundates you with feelings that completely absorb your being. But that's exactly what you experience when listening to, "Knock On The Sky." The songs range from the upbeat and power-packed "Get Over Yourself" to the melodic and heartfelt "Rush". SHeDAISY spared no expense in covering the full spectrum of life's emotional roller coaster ride. I don't think I have ever heard songs as intricately mastered, and yet, as heart-felt and easy to understand as the words written by the groups main lyricist, Kristyn Osborn. The 3rd track on the album, "Man Going Down", sounded reminiscent of a Fleetwood Mac tune...and for that, I loved it even more. Each song was it's own entity; it was a joyous adventure traveling from track to track, not knowing what emotions I would be experiencing next. To pick a favorite would be unfair. There is no favorite, because in my own opinion...this album cannot be separated into parts. It is the whole album which makes it the true perfection that it is.

It's safe to say that SHeDAISY could be in a genre all their own. In the hundreds and hundreds of albums I have purchased in nearly the past 2 decades...nothing has come close to being as fresh, complete, and as heavenly, as "Knock On The Sky".

4.0 out of 5 stars Different and Worth It, July 25, 2002
This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
This is my first purchase of music by SHedaisy. I liked the maturity I heard in 'Mine all Mine' so I thought maybe this CD might have something to offer. It took a few listens to get used to some of the production additions (sounds of rain, preacher preaching, techno sounding voices, celtic intro to a funky song) but I'm proud to say my ear seems to have accepted it. I'm glad they weren't afraid to be different and get of the beaten path. I think Kristyn Osburn brings a lot to country music. Her writing is quite introspective and far from dull. Perhaps it could be considered a little poppy on some tracks, but so what? What's wrong with some variety? One of the trademarks of SHedaisy is their ability to try new things and succeed at them. This CD make take awhile to catch on, but I think once they start putting out more singles, it's going to be a big hit in the end. And in case you didn't know, the single 'Knock on the Sky' is track 14 but it's hidden. You have to rewind it backwards to hear it. Boy--are you in for a surprise!! :-) Way to go SHedaisy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Shedaisy is Knocking on the Sky!!, June 25, 2002
By
Maren Cuykendall (Coralville, IA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
Shedaisy impresed me with their first album, The Whole Shebang. But Knock on the Sky blows that album out of the water. Or out of the sky perhaps? Part of what makes music good this day in age is its uniqueness and willingness to do what may seem the unthinkable or unbelievable. There are so many singers, groups, musicians, and endless competition out there. The only way to stand out? You've got to be different. Never before have I seen or heard an act more willing to try to do their own thing than Shedaisy. Their music may not be country, but it's not pop either. It's Shedaisy. That's all you need to know. Now for the good stuff: the music. Every song on this album is amazing. No exaggeration! I don't know where to start. Mine All Mine, the opening song is one of the most beautiful and touching, as it is about regret and loss. I'm Lit is packed full of energy and has lyrics with a double meaning. Man Goin' Down is a song for every woman-about how love is great at first, when you're going up. But you need a man going down too! The much put down Get Over Yourself is a great song no matter what the critics may say. It's fun, it's tongue in cheek, it's not meant to be taken seriously. Rush, a love song, beautiful, enough said! Perhaps the most dark song in this collection is I Wish I Were The Rain. A song written solo by Kristyn. Repent is also a tonuge in cheek song and has Shedaisy written all over it. Unique! Everybody Wants You-about how it feels to be idolized and wanted by everyone and how it's not as good as may appear. Now-a song about living in the present and not worrying about the past. All Over You-a lovely song that Kristyn wrote with Richard Marx. The First To Let Go-a devestating love song that makes your heart ache. Turn Me On-perhaps the most fun song on the entire album. There is so much energy and attitude in this song you cannot help but move to it! Keep Me-my personal favorite. It's about losing someone and you want them to keep you forever in their heart, mind, or wherever it may be. This is a haunting song, you've never heard anything like it. Must be because it's Shedaisy and they aren't afraid to be themselves. Speaking of being yourself, that's what the final hidden track is all about-Knock on the Sky. It's about Shedaisy doing their own thing. A Shedaisy thing. And you know what makes music good these days? Doing your own thing, not sounding just like the rest of the pack. What makes music sound so good? Shedaisy.

I'm a huge Shedaisy fan, and I had very high hopes for this cd and when I bought it I was not disappointed! I know that the reviews it has had said it was awful but I really don't see where they got that from, every song on the cd is beautifully written and performed. I gave it a chance and I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not "country" enough -- so what?, October 7, 2002
This review is from: Knock on the Sky (Audio CD)
The sisters of SHeDAISY take creativity to a whole new level on their latest endeavor. This collection of amazingly beautiful tunes was well worth the wait. Every song is amazing, and each is very distinct. I could easily fill this review with praises for each track.

I am an avid country fan and am a huge follower of everyone from George Strait to Dolly Parton. I review the charts weekly, but above all I love MUSIC. It doesn't have to fit a certain mold. I have been distressed lately about Nashville's cookie cutter. SHeDAISY may not be exactly "country" (which is a vague term as it is, with everyone from Alan Jackson to Martina McBride), but it doesn't fit into any other genre eiter. It is "SHeDAISY." I bought this album the day that it came out and it is still my favorite.

I also highly recommend "The Whole SHeBANG", "Brand New Year", and even "All Mixed Up." The remix album album is very original (which is GOOD thing whether Nashville will admit it or not). Some tracks have added electric guitars while others are acoustic country knee slappers dominated by fiddle. It is worth the money even for a fresh taste of something completely knew and interesting.

I am willing to give almost any music a try and appreciate the creativity of most artists, but 95% of my 300+ cds are COUNTRY, SHeDAISY included.

Well, I baught the first, and liked it a lot. Maybe not traditional country, but taken at fact value, this collection of great country rock tinged pop songs are better than the average cooky cutter ... coming out of music row.

Take songs such as I wish I were the rain and mine all mine as examples of great country tinged pop.

This should cross over very well given the chance.

Great stuff!!

They aren't the dixie chicks, but they never clamed to be. The fact the songs were penned by one of the group, incredable musitionship by the players, esp the drummer, steve brooster who's all over some tracks makes this a mus listen if you're in to artists like CDJ or high quality country pop.

Give it a chance.
