Editorial Reviews

Six years ago, American Boxer, JACK THE RIPPER STEMMONS had his undefeated boxing career destroyed by a bookie, who fixed the fight of Jack s life. In a rage, Jack brutally attacks the bookie and must disappear leaving everything he knows behind. Now, exiled half way around the world in Bangkok, Jack falls victim to the exotic and addictive spell of a prostitute, only to learn she has been set in his path by a scheming gangster eager for Jack to jump back into the ring-- this time in Bangkok s notorious underground fight clubs. No matter how hard Jack tries to distance himself from his violent past, it always hunts and knocks him down. When a mysterious fight fan arrives in Bangkok, it is only a matter of time before Jack s past, present and future collide in a twisted climax.

4.0 out of 5 stars unexpected thriller! April 11, 2012
An unexpected thriller with fantastic action scenes. This is an art / action film! The fight scenes are beautifully articulated and poetic. The action is intense. The characters are cool and the story is surreal. Great twist.

3.0 out of 5 stars THE BAD PENNY June 9, 2012
This film was originally released under the title "The Bad Penny." The visual and music during the opening credits hinted that the film would be grindhouse style.

Jack (Casey T. Evans) known as "The Ripper" owns a bar in Bangkok. He is a former boxer from St. Louis. He is visited by a fan Marcus (Nick Faltas) who is congenial in spite of the fact he lost money betting on Jack. As it turned out, Jack was supposed to take a dive in the fifth round, but that never happened. It was a "sure thing" as Marcus bet everything he had, including his double wide on it. Tom Arnold has an early role as a bookie.

After the double cross, Jack goes on the lam to Bangkok where he is manipulated with drugs and women. The movie has some theme about choices and if we really have them. Jack makes decisions with a coin toss. The movie seemed like your average grindhouse fare. It wasn't remarkable yet at you didn't get bored.

F-bombs, sex, nudity, blood, violence, killing

3.0 out of 5 stars Another low grade movie with Bai Ling June 3, 2014
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I really like Bai Ling. Her appearance in this movie is brief, however. The movie itself meanders aimlessly. There is interesting footage of debauched Thailand, and this is the best aspect of the thing.
