I read this book back in 1994 when I entered the workforce out of college. It was extremely instrumental in giving me a feeling that I had an edge in interviewing and understanding the job process. I think this is a solid book for coming out of school and getting some key points across in terms of desire, aggressiveness, attitude, etc. I couldn't believe it still in print, but I remember how pumped I would get after reading the book and being super excited about going out and searching for a job. maybe it just helped me see it differently back then and that was the edge I needed.

I really liked the ideas Martin Yate introduces in his book, Knock em Dead, the Ultimate Job Search Guide. He's updated parts of this book which deal with the technology of today which is extremely important.
Another idea that is in his book deals with networking electronically, which is one huge advantage prospective employees can have over another candidate. Kelly Wibbenmeyer, author of Any Tom, Dick, or Harry Can Get a Job: A Sure Fire Way to Land a Job

I found `Knock `em Dead - 2010' to be well written and well organized. The concepts are very good and easy to understand. I recommend reading the book all the way through, but one can also use it as reference material to focus on specific aspects of the job search.
I found the difficult question section especially useful. That chapter provides great insight into what an interviewer is actually looking for when asking some of those dreaded questions like; "What is your greatest weakness?" Going in armed with this knowledge gives the interviewee the confidence to relax and be natural. I am convinced this is was the key to my most very recent successful search. I consider this book to be a must have, not only for someone in the process of the job search, but also for anyone who is currently employed and interested in furthering their career within their current organization.

There are so many job search guides and techniques and this one stands OUT among that overwhelming crowd. The book is really good at making the reader feel excited and confident about their newfound knowledge which is great for job seekers in these tough and uncertain times. The interviewing techniques are some of the most valuable I've come across. Being prepared for the aggressive interviewer is invaluable. I also found that by coupling this book with Meagan Holub's The Magic Touch: How to make $100,000 per year as a massage Therapist that I was much more prepared go out and get work. Megan's book emphasizes points on how to really build the clientele you want and how to take the jobs that are really going to support your overall goals and growth. She even talks about the ever important dressing for success and advertising! Together I found these books made me feel unstoppable! Better gig, more pay, greater rewards HERE I COME!

I was told to buy it and follow it to the letter by a professional who has changed jobs several times. I bought it, read it, and will try to follow its advice. I haven't begun a new job search yet but it is obvious why this book would be really helpful. Tips on communicating, making and following leads, organizing, and all the other fun stuff. By comparison this book is really about finding and impressing the right people to get that job, and less about soul searching like "Parachute".

This won't give you answers to memorize but it will help dissect behavioral questions to figure out what the interviewer is actually looking for. Highly recommend it for anyone that will be going through interviews (especially in the accounting field).
