Squeezebox gets no better than this. This is "bare bones" music at it's best. True Irsh music lovers will eat this recording up, but at the very least it should be played in every tavern on March 17th. If these guys don't get your foot tapping, check your pulse.

I would like to see a video to go along with this. It's hard to believe anyone could play so fast and sound so good. Traditional Irish music just doesn't get any better than this. The tapping of the dancers feet in the background adds to the atmosphere of this CD and makes you feel like you were there for the recording session!

This is a really great and entertaining CD featuring Noel Hill on anglo concertina and Tony MacMahon on button accordion, along with live dancers. Still a best-seller after many years, and with good reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can't get better concertina playing commercially..., September 4, 1999

As a learning 'tina player I bought this to see what the pros are like... It's enough to make you seal the box away a long time!

Noel Hill has few equals and Tony MacMahon is the finest counterpoint any player could want..

5.0 out of 5 stars Jaw-dropping., August 26, 2010

If you know who these fellows are and you know what they do and you're looking at this review to decide whether or not to buy the CD... well... you should be ashamed of yourself. Buy it.

For those who don't know who these fellows are and you don't know what they do, let me tell you: They play Irish music. And here they've managed, somehow, to create a recording that seems much more like an active, living, breathing... entity... than a recording.

Listen to it with headphones and tell me you're not transported. Every step, every whoop, every accordion button and air valve snap... You're there. They're there. We get to be a part of it.

Absolutely perfect. Transformational. Historical. Transcendent.
