Very bright for their size.

I had been using the Knog Frog single LED light for over a year with no real issue, except that I misplaced it so I went to buy a new one.

I love the beetles because they're easy to take on and off my bike, so I can avoid my lights being stolen.

I just bought two of these, one headlight for my bike and one for my husband's. They are so easy to install, you just pull the streachy strap aroud any bar you want to place it on your bike and hook it around a hook on the bottom of the light. We thought these would be good ones to help make us visable to motorists while riding at night. we didn't realize that they were so bright! We tested them on a dark street and could actually see where we were going! I have a big basket on my bike so I attached it to the front bar coming from the tire to the handlebars underneath the basket and it works great. I was so worried about finding a light that I could use with my basket. The nice thing is too, is that my bike and the blue Beetle are the same color and you can't even tell that the light is there unless it is on. All in all a great buy!

For the price you are paying, it is definitely worth it, it's slightly small but it shines. Very handy little thing to have for a bike ride at night.

I hope that should anyone purchase this bike light that they realize on tiny it is. To put into perspective it's about as small as a baby's fist. Therefore this can pose a problem when you want to strap it onto your bike since it might be too small and not fit around the entire diameter of your handle. The way the light works is that it's shaped like a tadpole, the tale end of the light wraps around the handle and there's a hook at the head where the tail comes around and attaches to (which you can somewhat see in the picture). The material the Knog is made of is flexible and somewhat stretchy.

The light itself is a little bit sub-par from what I was expecting based on the reviews I read. Yes, it can be quite bright for such a small light, however it's only effective at close distances, and if you ride your bike like i do, you'd rather know of cracks, bumps, etc six feet in front of you instead of maybe 2-3 feet. At farther distances from it's optimum 3 feet, the light becomes significantly more dispersed and less concentrated.

There is also the smaller issue of turning the light on and off. The Knog functions by having you push down on its head to push a button underneath its skin, and in order to turn it off you must click through its various modes. I find the other modes a tad bit excessive and would rather have a light that turns on and off or at least provide the option of going to certain modes directly.

This light is perfect for me because I don't ride at night that frequently so it's compact and easy to store. I also like to switch between two bikes once in a while, and this light is easily removed and replaced when I decide to ride a different bike. Best of all they are purple! My favorite color and matches my bike.

The benefits of this light is the small size, waterproofness, and ease of taking it off and switching which bike to use it on. The bad part is how many different flashing modes you have to go through...on/flash/off would be good (and their 1 LED lights are like this) would be much better. This problem is exacerbated by how hard it is to click the button just right to click through the modes...yet it somehow manages to turn itself on in my backpack fairly frequently. So it's definitely not without its design flaws, but overall it does the job and better than other lights I've used.

Beware of cheap Chinese knockoffs. I recently purchased two Waterproof Double White LED Light with Black Silicone for Bicycle. Also posted a review and photos on that item. The knockoffs are not water resistant and will overheat fairly quickly.
***** End Update

These lights are perfect for their intended use. Bicycle lights should either, make you more visible to others or help you see the road in front of you. These lights make you more visible.

I've been using three everyday for about a month, two red and one white.

There have been complaints about receiving defective lights, some of these may be due to people not removing the plastic disc that separates the batteries from one another.

As for people complaining about too many settings... engage the memory function on the light.

1.Turn light on
2.Click through to your desired setting
3.Depress (HOLD) the button until it turn off
4.Click power button once...
5.Your light should automatically default to your previous setting.
6.EVERY time you turn light off, Depress (HOLD) the button until it turns off.

I had been using the Knog Frog single LED light for over a year with no real issue, except that I misplaced it so I went to buy a new one. Upon a bike shop rep's recommendation, I upgraded to the brighter and "longer lasting" Beetle. I immediately noticed that the strap seemed to be designed poorly, fitting into the cradle insecurely and seemingly backwards, and I found that it frequently and easily popped off right when I put it on. Everytime I used it, I worried about losing it and knew it was only a matter of time. Sure enough, only two weeks after purchase, it popped off somewhere along the way in off mode and I didn't notice until it was too late to recover. I went back to using the Knog Frog, happily. Do yourself a favor, spend half the money for the less bright, but more secure Frog version because a low light is better than a lost light.
