Amazon.com Product Description

The Knog Nerd 9-Function Bicycle Computer offers a fun and efficient way to record your cycle stats with smart, simple functionality and painless tool/wire-free set up. Rather than hassling with connecting wires and rubber cutouts, the Nerd uses a silicon tension fit system that simply wraps around your handlebar or stem for your preferred vantage point. The wireless transmitter attaches the same way--so that you are good to go--finished with "installation" in seconds--and without a single tool. This super-speedy and easy installation also makes the Nerd a great computer to move between bikes.

After you have installed your Nerd it is time to experience the computer's functionality. The wireless Nerd will transmit information without interference from any of the cellular/electronic noise of your surroundings. With single button operation, the Nerd's face functions as one big button, allowing you to scroll between its nine functions with ease. Pressing the face allows you to either display individual functions or cycle through all available function screens in a looped sequence using scan mode. The computer allows you to view data through numeric representations as well as with visual representation bars that show your current speed versus your average speed.

With nine functions and the ability to maintain unique data between rides, the Nerd allows you to document, review, and analyze your riding data to your heart's content on and off the bike. The Nerd displays current speed and a 12/24 hour clock and computes your average speed, maximum speed, and relative speed output as a bar graph of your current versus average speed. In addition, the Nerd records trip distance and total riding time and has an odometer and low-battery indicator.

The Knog Nerd offers unequaled ease of use, ease of installation, and smart functionality for biking. The computer is also 100 percent waterproof for worry-free use in any weather conditions.

4.0 out of 5 stars hehe nerd., August 27, 2010

I like it, it works. one gripe. When i want to use it on my trainer i have to move the sensor to the rear wheel. But the transmit distance is way short so i have to put the computer on my top tube almost under my saddle for it to pickup the signal. Makes it hard to read but at least it works and doesn't require too much work to move it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Computer, Highly Recommend It!, July 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Two things that I really like about this computer:
1) The relative speed bar on the lower right. It motivates me to go faster when I see myself drop below my average, and pushes me to hit the max on downhills.
2) The way it attaches is just a rubber strap and a hook. It's very easy to get on and off, which is great for when I'm just riding around the city. I can just take it off, put it in my pocket and not have to worry about someone stealing it.

The one thing I don't like is that the speed scrolls when it changes instead of just switching to the new change all at once. It takes about a half second for the speed to roll over, which seems insignificant, but the speed updates about every two seconds. So a half second scroll means that you can't actually see your speed 25% of the time. This gets annoying when you flick your eyes down for barely a moment to check your speed, only to see that you're going 18... something. Awesome. Thanks for that handy piece of information.

Still an excellent piece of equipment, still recommend it.

This review is from: Knog Nerd 9 Function Bicycle Computer (Sports)
I bought an el cheapo wireless computer that worked (mostly) for a couple weeks then quit. I wish I had bought this to start with.

First of all, Knog's stretch silicone mounting system is as useful here as in the lights. No zip ties, no rubber strips, no clips. That makes it easier to install and adjust for optimum placement and allows use on multiple bikes (although I suggest getting an extra magnet).

The unit has one button for switching between funtions (hold to reset time and distance). The best thing about the button is that it is basically a rocker switch - just tap the unit. No having to press a tiny button with two fingers. It gives you a nice click as feedback. Having multiple colors is nice - the sensor blends in with my fork pretty well.

I haven't used this for long enough to determine reliability.

One gripe - while the sensor has two loops for different tightness, I still had to put it all the way to the top to really get a super-tight fit. The computer itself has only one loop and it could do to be a little tighter. I have a '74 Raleigh Sports. I suspect this was designed with newer bikes in mind, in which everything seems to be fatter.
