I've been eating this Cajun beans an rice regularly for over 15 years. It beats Zatarain's by a mile. Throw in some kielbasa and you have a great main dish.

5/22/13 This is not my favorite anymore. Knorr changed the recipe and it is mostly pasta now instead of beans and rice. My gluten-intolerant wife can't eat it now. Also the flavor and texture are totally different now. Too bad. It was one of my favorites before they messed with it.

My family absolutely LOVED Knorr/Lipton's Red Beans and Rice. It's a staple for us.

Just bought our favorite Lipton/Knorr Red Beans and Rice at the store last weekend, and cooked it this weekend.

My husband was making it per the directions. Near the end of the microwave time, I looked in at it. The poor guy - I thought it was something he might have done. I asked him if he added too much water, Then I asked him if he was sure he followed the directions correctly. It didn't look right to me.

I read the package instructions, and even checked the package's item name to see if I bought the wrong thing. What a nasty shock - the tried and true perfect recipe had changed. Instead of being Red Beans and Rice, it had become "Red Beans and Rice - Rice and Pasta Blend". It was right there on the front of the package. Then I thought I was not remembering it correctly, and maybe it always had pasta. No - I googled it and found a pic on a competitor site that did not reference pasta at all.

If you enjoy rice/pasta blends, then maybe this is ok with you. I don't like them at all, so it was absolutely terrible, saying it again Lipton, in case you read this... ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. It is more a pasta dish than a rice dish now. And whoever heard of Red Beans and Pasta??? Yuck. I'll be returning the additional packages I bought.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad. I am massively disappointed. Please Lipton/Knorr - change it back!!

BTW - if it was the old recipe, all rice no pasta, it's 5-star enjoyment.

Hopefully other consumers see this review before they buy this changed version and are disappointed too.

Please note that the picture displayed with this product no longer reflects the current recipe. As other reviewers have noted, the packs now contain vermicelli mixed in with the rice. What an unpleasant surprise when I cooked some last night. The flavor is the same, but the texture is now unpalatable. The vermicelli is slippery and gelatinous, just an awful combination. I wrote to the manufacturer in the hopes that they are getting lots of similar feedback.

Okay, so if you last reviewed this product pre 2013, then you probably need to update that. The recipe has completely changed. Saltier, less versatile, more pasta than rice, and definately a less quality product. I clearly see that Knorr opted to manufature a cheaper product while keeping prices relateively the same. Well this has completely backfired. The new product is just awful in comparison and I will be looking for a replacement product immediately.

To my surprise my recent red beans and rice was just bad. I feel like I wasted perfectly good sausage, chicken, and shrimp. But alas, luckily there are options. I just wish they had not messed with it. Next time, raise the price 15-20 cents if it means all rice and no pasta. It seems that instead of marginally profiting more per unit, Knorr will sell less units. Where is the profit in that?

Bought a case thinking it was the same as always. Instead, there is very little rice and it is mostly pasta. Yuck! Threw it all away. This was my husbands favorite, along with some hot sausage. Now I am in search of a replacement.

Flavor Name: Classic Chow Mein, AsianSize: 4.3 Ounce
I've been eating Knorr (Lipton) noodles for about 15 years now. They are simple to make, inexpensive, and tasty. This particular variety is rather lacking in the flavor department. As far as all the Knorr varieties go, this is near the bottom of my list. I will probably not be buying this one again. This flavor, along with the other two new flavors (Bacon Cheddar and Scampi) are rather disappointing. I would have expected more from Knorr. The discontinued Beef Lo Mein Asian side from Knorr was much, much better than this.

I live in another country and find it hard to get something nice to eat. So when I hit the States I buy tons of these. They used to be great. Just add some chicken and bam quick semi healthy meal. But this new stuff is like eating dog food. It is pasty sticky and the spices ruin it. I can not find anyway to save it. Nothing I have added will help the taste. So now I am stuck with 40 bags of well garbage. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the better stuff.

My family goes through these Knorr packages like crazy, so I wanted to buy in bulk online. The price is OK, about the same sale price as I'd pay in a store but I get it delivered for free and no raised eyebrows at that grocery store for buying 4 dozen packages. Win! Except the expiration dates .... all 48 packages are due to expire within 6-8 months. So if you're buying this for long term storage, you're better off getting at the store - where I've seen expiration dates 2+ years out. Buying online, you get what they ship - in my case, all 4 cases had drastically reduced expiration dates from what I was expecting.
