Wonderful book and great photos - a must buy!,
By Flower Fan (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
This book not only helped me select my wedding flowers, but I've lent it to two brides-to-be and got rave reviews. I even used it as a guide in creating bride and bridesmaid bouquets for my friend's recent wedding (I have to admit that I did have a bit of additional experience prior!). The book goes through each flower alphabetically and tells you when each is in season and their meanings. It also guides its reader by explaining each type of bouquet by shape and includes step by step instructions on how to create a centerpiece, bouquet and boutineer. I highly recommend this book to any bride or amateur floral designer.

OK--but not the best,

If you are looking for some floral tips and arrangement ideas, this book will help you with those ideas. However, if you are looking for an instructional book on how to make arrangements yourself, this book doesn't give enough information on this. (Yes, there is a small section in the book about making them yourself--but does not tell you how to make certain ones shown in the book). I would like a more informational--how-to-make boquet book. I might just have to write one myself!

Wedding Flower Woes,
By Aliza's Mom (CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
This book had beautiful pictures of many different flowers. The section with a description and picture of each flower was great.
I was disappointed that it didn't have many pictures of arrangements for a church. Of course, most books and wedding websites don't. If you are looking for centerpiece and bouquet ideas, this is the book for you. But if you need ideas for arrangements for a church ceremony, this isn't where to find them.

Beautiful flowers,

There werent enough flower choices, but the ones that were shown were beautiful, and I really enjoyed choosing which flowers I wanted. This book gave me a good idea of what to expect and look for in flowers, and I really appreciated the fact that the meanings of the flowers was included in it. (I even got my fiance to look at it) :0 Great Book!

Informative on a basic level for brides-to-be,
By moonberry "It's Moonberrific!™" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
The first part of the book provides a list of favoured wedding flowers (with photos), and it gives a basic summary on their characteristics, seasonal availability and cost. The second part of the book contains a few DIY tips (not a lot) and a small gallery of centerpiece/bouquet designs, grouped by colors and themes.
The information in this book can be helpful for brides-to-be who are unfamiliar with the names of flowers, or what certain flowers look like. I personally think that the design examples are quite simple and unintimidating (ie. not flashy or over the top), and thus this book will be useful for brides who are looking for inspirations along those lines. I recommend this book as a preliminary reference and it's a good start before meeting with your florist to discuss wedding flowers.

Great basic guide for brides!,
By
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
I found this book useful in that it was simple, straight forward guide to the most common flowers used in weddings. The first half is essentially a glossary of flowers. It provides basic information that made it easy to compare flowers: photo, meaning, colors available, when in season, and price range. The book also provides information on bouquet styles, color schemes, and flower arrangments, but I found the single flower photos most educational.
This book enabled me to have an intelligent conversation with my florist and narrow down which flowers I wanted for my wedding. I even took it along with me to discuss specific flowers with my florist. I plan to lend it to all my friends for their wedding planning!

Wedding Flower Books,
By
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
I have been going through several wedding flower books and I find this one to be the best! They have realistic arrangments for people on a budget and they give a list at the back of the book as to what flowers are in season when. They also show several diffent greenery items you can use. It is great!

Not enough information included,
By
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
I was hoping this book, since it focuses on flowers, would have pictures and small descriptions of most of the flowers a couple might choose for their wedding. However, this book is very limited in that regard. It's as if they settled on the top-seller flowers, put in a photo and description of those, and then threw the rest out. Because of that, this book was not very helpful to me. I went to see the florist a lot less informed then I thought I was, and ended up choosing several flowers that I didn't even know about because they're not in this book.
The pictures are pretty, but way too much was left out for this book to be functional.

Very Helpful,
This review is from: The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers (Hardcover)
I can already tell that this book is going to ensure a huge success at my friend's wedding. We are doing all of the flowers and the book has given us great ideas and lovely pictures. I compared it to other books and it seemed to have the most color pictures in it, which help when you are following the photos. Just like several of the other books by the Knot.com it is well organized and has great check lists and timelines.

The book is really helpful. It provides you basic information about flowers: names, colours, seasons, price, meaning.... After the first chapter of introduction to flowers, you will come to how to prepare your own wedding floral arrangement. (I am at this part so could not provide any further description about the book but overall I found all what I've read is very interesting and helpful).
The book comes with high quality images printed on high quality paper, so it's very enjoyable. Reading the book doesnt require you to read chapters through chapters; you can just start/stop anywhere you like. It's a good book for people who are interested in flowers and wedding floral arrangement. It's also good to read just for leisure. |
