Grade 7-9. This second book in the series is part of a unique serial that has a site on the Internet. While the writing is no better or worse than other horror/suspense teen novels, it doesn't work without the first book or an Internet connection. The story centers around the students and faculty of Wintervale University, many of whom are under the control of a mysterious figure, the Lurker, who spies on them through the campus computer network and finds ways to lure them to him. In Know Fear, Josh Stewart has transferred to Wintervale because he has fallen for Jenny Dvorak, but she wants nothing to do with him. Lonely and discouraged by his difficult courses, Josh is barred from playing basketball because of his poor grades. He allows the Lurker to help him win in a role-playing game against other students.
