Editorial Reviews

Review

'Cole is brilliant at portraying the good among the bad, and vice versa, so until the very end we never quite know who to trust. This is the very stuff that makes her so compelling' -- Daily Mirror --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Know - Excellent, April 20, 2007

Martina Cole is an excellent writer but I think this one is my favourite so far. I just had to keep on reading until I got to the end to see what happened. Gets into the seedy dark side of life but that is the attraction of her books.

Martina Cole's books are without a doubt so enthralling that when I pick a new one up it is finished within 2 days and what a great read it always turns out to be. The Know is a book that stays with you days after you have finished it! Joannie Brewer is a prostitute who has 3 kids with who knows who; they are teased as being a Heinz 57 family, Jon-Jon is black, Jeannette looks Turkish and Kiera is a beautiful English Rose. The story reveals the trials and tribulations that this close knit family go through; and it tugs deeply at my heartstrings. I won't be giving anything away when I say that Kiera is murdered and the family search for the answers as to her abduction and death. Prostitute or not I felt deeply for Joannie and her family. Can't wait for the next one!

1.0 out of 5 stars I have finally read dumbest book ever written, June 2, 2007
By
This review is from: Know (Paperback)
Sigh! Gnash!! The poverty, the injustice, the racism!!

This is a book about a whole bunch of people who make tons of money exploiting each other in the most heartless, crass, ignorant, lazy and just plain stupid ways imaginable. And it is supposed to tug the heartstrings. I'd rather read about spiders.

TIME IS PRECIOUS - don't waste yours like I did.
