I looked pretty carefully and cannot see a referance to the book being for any particular Bernina models, although the author mentions she has #830 and also mentions #730 & #1130. This is more on how to manipulate fabrics using a Bernina and the feet than to service the machine. There are charts on which feet come with the machines #730, 830, 930, 1130, which are optional, and what needle to use for what.

The question is answered in a step-by-step way in 11 chapters and 36 lessons - add stitches, texture, and fabric; stitch across spaces, draw out threads, add interesting seams, hems, and edges, and more. Only a simple working knowledge of any sewing machine is needed to begin learning free embroidery, applique, cutwork, lacemaking, needleweaving, shadow work, and quilting. Learn to make distinctive embroidered garments, home accessories, gifts - quickly and easily."

While there are other books that will help you learn all of these more advanced sewing techinques (and some with a lot better illustrations/photos) it will be very handy to follow the clear instructions straight from this book so that every machine setting the author mentions are clearly the same for your Bernina - not other makes.

This review is of the 1987 paperbound edition, other editions may vary. I like how this edition binding will lay flat without holding it (except very near the front or back of text block) so that you may follow easily.

Teaches (and illustrates) maximum use of the mechanical Berninas thru accessories and specialty feet. These stitching tips & techniques add endless possibilities for quality sewing and tailoring, even heirloom and embroidery work. Instructions are precisely written with many helpful photos.

The 2nd ed of this book is pretty much how to push the limits of your Bernina 1130 with a number of projects, using a variety of machine techniques. It is very clear actually, that the book is written around the 1130, because there is a picture of the 1130 on the front cover. In the chapter titled Getting Started the author says "I'll tell you some of the features you'll find on each Bernina model, then I'll tell you why I'm sold on the 1130 computer model."

The book is technique based, but one section goes through a "sampler" of every stitch available on the Bernina 1130.

So many people say that this book is a workbook manual for getting the best out of the Bernina 830. That model is mentioned in one or two lines, but the book is not specifically about that machine at all.

This is a fascinating book and while it does not apply directly to the Bernina 1530 it has a tremendous amount of challenging projects that I would never have thought of. If I were to own a later model Bernina I would definitely want this book. The information is not supplied with the machines.

I am finding this book to be very helpful and I am learning a lot of useful information even though the manual turned out to be written for a different model machine than mine. The book would be a 5-star if the cover or title had indicated that it was primarily for a specific machine.

Book blows chunks. MY manual that came with machine is better.

Should have bought nice jar of peanut butter with money.
