Seminal Bay Area Power Metal,
By Sean D. Gerstenlauer (Oakland, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Know Your Enemy (Audio CD)
Like much of the music from this period it may not have aged as well as it could have, but...I saw this band play many times in SF; they were a powerhouse draw and were playing power metal at the height of the immediate post-Van Halen period when Motley Crue were the heaviest thing around. Metallica opened for them in SF, and they were doing Priest-style metal (with the over-the-top stage show to boot), when it wasn't particularly cool. The twin guitar work blew away most of the playing from this period, and if DVD were a medium then their live shows would be legendary. I think this band and Exodus were the first real "mosh pits" I encountered. This is a a terrific representative album; great riffs, smoking leads.

this album was more a good transition to heavier music from their older cds but the new eq tech. definetly improves the albums sound abit making it even sharper than orinaly recorded and the live dvd in dynamo 86 is all older harder to find matterial from their first two albums.and none from this cd.

this cd is a real turned corner for the band they changed from a power metal band with LA glad looks to speed metal and heavy hooks.laaz rockit had a trange start but alot of the old songs are real good and blend in to the newer stuff live.this cd laaz puts their best foot forward and draws in alot of new fans and has a new record company to promot them better and they co headline some tours with some great bands and headlineded in europe and play dynamo to a huge crowd and on alot of the rereleased old cds even this one you can hear the crowd support.I think they recorded the show for a future live cd that they never released.this cd is not full blown thrash yet but the got they speed and chops to evolve still.

Solid CD with some oddities,
By Hex "Hexen525" (Nowhere MT) - See all my reviews

I liked this album. I found the tape in a pawn shop for $2, liked the cover so I bought it. I was impressed. It's a little over produced, but all-in-all a good choice. Solid sound, good guitar work and some interesting lyrics. There are some stand out tracks(Most Dangerous Game stands out in my mind at the moment), and some iffy tracks. The price for this might be a little high, but if you like slightly over produced thrash metal, this is a getter.I have their 2nd CD also, not nearly as good(other than the cover of Holiday in Cambodia). This one is fun.

This was Laaz Rockit's second best album and again it's below average compared to any other thrash band. The music is just bland with no rockin flow just random, unorganized riffs with stupid lyrics.

Pretty Heavy,

This is a pretty good album from the late eighties. Like one of the other reviewers I bought this on tape, when it came out in 1987, due to the picture on the cover(I was 15). The music is fast and heavy, with the typical thrash metal screaming vocals. The best song is "Self Destruct".

Laaz Suckit,

Laaz Rockit's music is some of the most talentless, time-wasting audio tripe I have ever had the misfortune of being tricked into buying. This band could not thrash their way out of an untied garbage bag. You could randomly pick 4-5 homeless people off the streets of any major city and chances are, they would form a better band and put on a better show than Laaz Rockit - even if they had no chance to practice, they had never seen the instruments before, and they did not speak the same language. Do yourself a favor and leave this musical excrement on the shelf and thank yourself for the favor. Guitar work is pitifully repetitive, drum solos weak, and the audio sounds like an abused child. The tracks drone on forever, as if cycling the song through your subconcious will somehow alleviate the painful memory of its exposure. Attempts at deep lyrics are shallow, as is the talent of this unfortunate grouping of pretenders.
