Oold Fashioned Airguns Made Great,
By Greenknight01 "Greenknight01@hotmail.com" (Some where in New England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Know Your Sheridan Rifles & Pistols (Paperback)
Sheridan Rifles & Pistols is an excellent book. It covers the history of the firm and product in great detail. It covers product development, operation, and even some ads and marketing material. I bought my copy at a gun show for $2.95 about 15 years ago. My book is in mint condtion. I am amazed at the high cost of the used book . The Sheridans must have a great following and large collector base.
Sheridan Rifles & Pistols are still made by Crossman. They are low in cost and high in value. I own one of the pump .22 air pistols. I have shot the Silver streak air rifle. The air guns are made the old fashioned way from wood and steel. They are rugged and reliable. They can be serviced by the owner and are powerful enough for plinking or taking pests and small game. Anyone looking for a low tech traditional air gun should look at them. They would be great for a survival, backwoods, or homestead gun. The rifles and pistols can be obtained from online or from your local air gun dealer. I suggest the Silver steak with a williams peep sight, and extra repair (o rings, gasket, etc) parts kit and a good supply of pellets. These are great quality "American Made" airguns and may not be economically viable in the future to make. They will serve you well and provide many hours of enjoyment. Buy the book and the gun while you still can... As to the bad one star reviewer; well you just don't know what you are talking about. A bad workman always blames his tool!

Good information,

The book gives sound information on the history of the company and the evolution of the product. It does not have anything to do with the quality of the product.

Sheridans are expensive and are poorly made much $ is needed to make one useable. Try making an affordable gun.
