VAL is "Voice Activated Learning". The software comes with a microphone. Throw the thing away before you let your kids use it to play the game. My boys had to yell LOUDLY into the cheap mic to make it work. All of the noise was bothering me so I spent $9.99 at Target and got a better mic. The Target mic works a hundred times better but my kids still yell into the thing as if it were the cheap mic. Disregarding all of the noise, the games are fun and have kept my 5 1/2 year old sons entertained for minutes at a time.

My 6 year old daughter just loves this game. It comes with a small little microphone so that she can say the words and it actually tells her if she is right. Good for a first grader.

This cd is what taught my children to read. I just can't say enough about it. The microphone is a little hard to use. So I bought another one. After that everything was perfect. My son is in 1st grade and is reading on a fifth grade level. My oldest son is reading on an adult level now and he is in fifth grade. YOu will see a difference in your child after using this cd system.

Product would not load on my computer. However, my son plays with this at his school, and loves it!

my kids is 3 years old, is a little confused but is very good learn game, my kid like it, and for the price is excellent , my son teacher recomemded, and me too.

Really awful program. I only purchased it because the school also uses it. The Karoke section makes no sense and it says to play a song, but then none of the buttons are enabled to play one. I called tech support and they said this is the way it's supposed to work until the child accumulates tickets. My daughter accumulated all of the tickets, but it still doesn't play any songs in the clubhouse.
