My daughter "begged" to have this program after she used it at school and it's become a favorite of my 4 year-old son as well. It builds basic skills by helping children to explore one step at a time, and encourages learning with graphics, enchanting characters, and storylines that keep them coming back for more. IMHO, this was a product well worth buying.

my 4 year old learned to read early, so i pulled this out after finding it at a consignment shop months prior. i have never seen him so into a game! he LOVES it- we can all sing along with the songs, he loves to play the games... i love how it's sparked his interest in school. if your kid is a sucker for a catchy song like mine, you'll love that you bought this game. it does transition a little slow, and the graphics aren't anything special, but something about it can capture a kid's interest for a LONG time.

As a previous reviewer wrote, this version of Jumpstart will not work on newer Mac's. I have OS X 10.6. The evaluation part works but once you start to play the game somehow the sound goes down to barely audible. My granddaughter could not hear any of the instructions. She got frustrated really fast. Too bad, Knowledge Adventure didn't tell us that the program would not work on newer MACs before we bought it. Knowledge Adventure SHOULD have a free upgrade posted on their web site to download to fix these bugs. I am $$$$orry that I did not take the time to read the reviews.-

My six year old homeschool boy is used to the online Jumpstart so I was hoping this would interest him. Unfortunately it didn't hold a candle to what he was used to. I got him interested in one game, but not for very long and it really was too young for him. I think a younger child would be fine with it especially if this was their first program.

I bought this software for my 6 year old grandson when he was only 4. He has grown to like and understand the concepts presented in this program. At first I explained what to do at each exercise, but now that he is about to finish kindergarten he can do all the games on his own. His favorite game is the music one. I highly recommend this software for preschoolers getting ready to start kindergarten.

I bought this product in order to get my 6 year old son more interested in learning to read. So far, he has loved using it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good program for education and fun.

We got this one to replace the one we wore out. Great game and quick shipper :)

Just got this and it crashes on any kind of
a new mac. Maybe if you got your mac 3 years ago and
never upgraded the OS it would work.

This game is cute, and VERY fun for K-2nd graders, as there is a lot of activities and games that can easily be played by your young child. Overall, the game is very fun and entertaining. It has challenges and things that are easy, so it makes it good for all kids.

I used to love this game when I was a kid. I played it well into my years in middle school and was sad when the game was given away. My sister recently got a copy for my cousin to play when we babysit him and to help him learn and he loves it. We have some newer learning games too but this is the only one he wants to play and I've seen improvement. I even pop it into my computer and play it once in a while and I still have fun with it. One of the best kid games ever, 100,000 times better than a lot of the new garbage that's out. Unlike many learning games which you almost have to know how to read to be able to work with many of the activities, this game reads questions to you. It also reads and highlights the answers so you can hear the answers and know which pictures or selections are associated with which answer.
