Biography

There has been a metamorphosis happening for the past few years with California based the Kottonmouth Kings. The group was injected with a new found creative firepower when they added Oregon based rapper the Dirtball to their ranks last year. Dirtball's versatile vocal delivery allows him to snap off rapid fire rhymes ala Twista, while his background as a drummer/musician allows him to bring… Read more in Amazon's Kottonmouth Kings Store

Editorial Reviews

The Kottonmouth Kings prepare to unleash Koast II Koast, a 24-song full-length album, on the band's highly successful independent label Suburban Noize Records. The Kings have become an institution in American subculture -- each of their five studio albums, including last year's self-titled release, scanned more than 20,000 units in the first week. Koast II Koast captures the band at the top of their game, elevating them miles above the pack. The Kottonmouth Kings headline a 54-date North American summer tour beginning in June.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the kings., June 10, 2006

This review is from: Koast II Koast (Audio CD)
I have been a big fan since royal highness. After saint left the group i was worried. Then they dropped high society and i was blown away. The next was hidden stash 2, then rolling stoned which those three albums had the kings at the top of their game. The best beats the best raps everything was banging. The next release was fire it up very poor album in my opion. After that came no.7 a step up from fiu but still not quite there. With this release the have stepped back into the style that they are at their best in. A solid release for sure s step in the right direction. If your a fan of the older kings then this one is for you. Ive been down for the crown for years and will stay down with crown till im gone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ok, this does it, a review that actually matters, June 14, 2006
This review is from: Koast II Koast (Audio CD)
Ok, first of all, stop reading all the reviews that simply say, "wow this album is great!" Or "KMK's worst album, nothing compared to High Society" Well, duh, frankly if you're looking for the same thing as high society, stop listening to KMK. High Society was great, but you can't expect a band to not evolve, and not change their sound. Thats stupid. I have been listening to KMK for so long, and they keep amazing me with how each album evolves a little from the last, but stays true to what they are and want to be.

Now, this CD is amazing. The Kings are definitely steering more towards Hip-Hop and Kingspade beats with this CD, and I say awesome. If You're a fan of songs like "sub noize rats" unfortunately this CD has nothing for you. But, if you're like me and thought that the punk rock stuff was good, but it wasnt you're favorite, and that songs like "Soul Surfin" started really good, but then were kinda f-ed up by the fast punk chorus, then You'll enjoy this CD. Not to say that there is no punk/rock in this cd, it just takes a major backseat, and is audible on some of the songs but it is still hip hop, with a dash of punk/rock flavor.

Bottom Line: If you like the songs like "King Klick" or "Drunk in the Club" from kingspade, You will absolutely love this album, cause its full of tracks just like these!

5.0 out of 5 stars As Good as High Society, June 6, 2006
This review is from: Koast II Koast (Audio CD)
I am glad Kottonmouth finally got back to making a solid hip hop album. Many of their previous albums have been all of the place with some punk rock (which they are not good at) some acoustic (same as above) and some hip hop. D-Loc and Richter are solid MC and the beats on the album are sick. Koast II Koast is a pleasant surprise.
