I am not a professional music teacher but am teaching a small class for children. I found this to be a good approach to teaching music thru simple songs and games. Good ideas to choose from, though for me, it was quite in depth and too much to cover in a simple class. It gives a great framework of thought and a lot of ideas to give focus on what you want your students to learn.

A great book to go along with the method is 120 singing games by Lois Choksy. IT is not cheap, but my friend who teaches using the Kodaly method highly recommended it.
