Like so many, I've used a squeegee to remove water from my negatives. The slightest bit of hard dust or grit getting in the blades caused scratching, and the squeegee often left long lateral streaks of water on the negative as the edge deteriorated from hitting the sprocket holes on 35mm film.

After reading about using this and not using any wiping at all, I tried it. It is absolutely astounding. It's a surfactant that breaks surface tension and causes water to spread evenly. You can just let it dry, and it doesn't get streaked or scratched. Very rarely, I may see a water spot towards the bottom of the negatives where more water accumulated, but a Pec pad and some negative cleaner removes it cleanly.

My negatives make better scans and don't get damaged using this. Cleanliness is and always will be an issue with scanning and printing, but simply not damaging the negative to begin with is priceless and I highly recommend this stuff.

I'm just an amateur and not a professional so I'm not sure how much my opinion is worth -- but this stuff improved my b/w negatives substantially and I'll continue to use it.

I'm using this to wash records. A little bit in warm water. It seems to work well.

In the old days, when dirt was new, we used Kodak Photo-Flo as the last rinse for our negatives so they wouldn't water spot. Haven't used it years....

....Now my wife has a new onyx shower installed with no place to hang that (stupid) Johnson and Johnson 'Scrubbing Bubbles' automatic shower cleaner. Thank goodness. So, how to keep the water spots off without wiping the shower often?

Simple. Mix one (1) capfull of Kodak Photo-Flo to 32 oz. of water and put in a small hand sprayer and spray down the shower after each use.

Vola! No more spots and a simple once a week wipe-down and it is as good as new!

Photo-flo is a 'surfacant', meaning it doesn't allow water to stall and spot.

Try it yourself, it is cheap and works great!
