5.0 out of 5 stars great product. Kodak please improve software.
Scanner and software are great, very streamlined for home document scanning - bills, statements, invoices, etc.
too bad software does not work on Windows Server 2003, because it relies on TWAIN support. They could have made it compatible with ISIS.

3.0 out of 5 stars Drivers ok for Win7 32 bit, BUT WHAT ABOUT SCANNING SOFTWARE?
Can anyone suggest SCANNING SOFTWARE with a reasonable price (under $100) for the Kodak i40 scanner with WIN 7?

I have enjoyed the speed of my i40 scanner connected to my win XP computer.
Now I am installing it on my new WIN 7 OS computer.
Installation CD cannot be used to install the scanner, had to go to the Kodak web site for a version that works...

too bad software does not work on Windows Server 2003, because it relies on TWAIN support. They could have made it compatible with ISIS.

The scanner beats hands down the Fujitsu's ScanSnap 5110-EOX2 (which I also have). Software is much better - for example renaming resulting PDF files to meaninful names is a royal pain with Fujitsu/Adobe bundle, but with Kodak Capture it's a piece of cake. Just take care to learn the software - it's not immediately intuitive.
1. capture a bunch of documents (statements, etc.) into a batch
2. press "E" to start naming documents. While doing that you can brows the first or 2nd page of each document to get idea of what statement and what date it applies to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scanner for 32 bit versions of Windows, December 4, 2009

I had purchased several of these scanners for use in an office. The scanner is perfect, and a bargain for its performance, if you are using a 32 bit version of windows. Be aware however that the i40 does not support 64 bit versions of windows 7. I subsequently acquired a pair of Kodak i1220 scanners for my 64 bit windows 7 machines because of my good experience with the i40 and they are absolutely amazing and perform flawlessly. In the course of setting it up I had contacted Kodak product support several times to deal with a problem caused by interaction with my anti-virus program and got the best service I ever experienced from a computer company.

Installation CD cannot be used to install the scanner, had to go to the Kodak web site for a version that works with WIN 7 32 bit. That worked. So far so good.

BUT the separate SCANNING SOFTWARE CD "Kodak Capture LITE" does not work with WIN 7, and Kodak tells me there is no free replacement for the original (free) Scanning Software. I would have to purchase Kodak Capture PRO for $499! (1/2 the price of the scanner!). Kodak referred me to their web site where about 100 3rd party software vendors are listed that sell scanning software that will work with the i40. This is TOO LARGE a list for me to go through one-by-one.

Can anyone suggest SCANNING SOFTWARE with a reasonable price (under $100) for the Kodak i40 scanner with WIN 7?

1.0 out of 5 stars No 64bit support!, February 9, 2010
This review is from: Kodak i 40 - sheetfed scanner ( 888-2649 ) (Office Product)
All of our office PC are running 64 bit Windows. Kodak doesn't have any support for 64bit for this scanner rendering it a expensive boat anchor.

Our company is requiring our documents to be scanned, so we bought this scanner a while back. It scans fairly quickly, double-sided. But, there isn't much accompanying documents to help out...ie...not very user friendly. But, the scanning is clear.

They have a Twain Windows 64 bit driver that works well with Paperport 14 and Windows 7. I have been using this on a 32 bit system for several years. Works will for documents. Need to pair with a flatbed for photos and books.Kodak i 40 - sheetfed scanner 888-2649 )

This installed easily in Windows XP and runs great. It is apparently identical to my earlier Xerox DocuMate 252 with more robust plastic trays (the Xerox tray lost a hinge and could not be replaced). Although there are packaged software for scanning, I prefer to use Adobe Acrobat Professional.
