5.0 out of 5 stars Kodak Prints Rival Lab Prints
Excellent printer. My experience was good and Tech Support from Kodak was also good. The Kodak name on the back of the prints make it really look professional and the image quality rivals lab prints.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good printer BUT Kodak tech support is not there.
The Kodak 9810 was a good quality printer, while it worked. I was running from Win 7 x64 PC using older drivers and firmware, no problems. The Kodak 9810 was a good quality printer, while it worked. I was running from Win 7 x64 PC using older drivers and firmware, no problems. Then Kodak created a new updated software/firmware combo package that was MANDATORY to install because Kodak changed the formulation of the printing paper and ribbons. So this upgrade WAS A ONE WAY STREET. No going back to what I had (according to Kodak).

The installation package from Kodak must be installed completely, which of course I did. In fact I removed and re-installed several times. Bottom line, as soon as the new firmware was successfully installed, the printer would not respond to any print job. Period. End of story. The printer became a very expensive boat anchor. Called up Kodak, about 8 times (!!) Spoke to several pro-printer tech people more than once. We ALL agreed that rolling back to a previous firmware would be worth a try. But NO, Kodak higher-ups refuse to allow me to test that. They REFUSE to let me have the earlier firmware. They even claim they don't have it anymore (say WHAT??).

There's a lot more tech stuff to this story but suffice it to say that Kodak as a company is completely broken in my humble opinion. The tech staff cannot handle an issue like this, and frankly they don't care very much. I'm sure you've read about the possible implosion of the company within a couple years. It is not looking good for Kodak (in my opinion). So I really have to rate ANY Kodak printer as BUYER BEWARE. It's such a shame because I loved this and the previous dye-sub printer (the 8660). Guess Fuji is about to get my business and I'm about to take a huge bath on this printer and several roles of printer paper/ribbons. OUCH!
