5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have
This is a must have item for your kodak dig. camera.
It allows for filters, tele/wide aux lenses or any 55mm screw on attachment.
Apart from that the black metal enclosure compleatly covers the entire lens assemby, at any zoom or focal length.
This adds a very strong and valuable protection to your lens.

1.0 out of 5 stars Comments on KODAK Lens Adapter for DX6490
I received the lens adapter but there was no info on how to use it. It screws in over the regular ZOOM lens but offers absolutely nothing to the use of the KODAK DX6490. I suspect there are additional filters or other accessories that might make the adapter useful and hope to find out what they may be in the near future. The lens adapter by itself, doesn't seem to add...

Apart from that the black metal enclosure compleatly covers the entire lens assemby, at any zoom or focal length.

If you accidentally bang the camera against a hard surface this adapter may very likely save your lens (camera) from destruction. I always keep it on with a skylight filter, the skylight or a UV filter further protects the lens from impact, scratches and dust. If used when the lens is not fully extended ex: wide angle to normal zoom, the adpter also helps block out stray light and acts as a light shade. Kodak aught to have this built into their camera as a permanent fixture, but alas they make extra revenue on their accessories.
Do Buy It! P.S. when using this on a model DX7590 Kodak Camera, be sure to remove the lens adapter while using the built in flash, the adapter blocks the flash and gives an unbalanced flash exposure. This is unaffected if you use an external flash unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lens Adapter, January 31, 2006
This review is from: Kodak Lens Adapter for Z7590 and DX6490 Digital Camera (Electronics)
The lens adapter works fine. I think there should be some link to additional lenses; that it is a must purchase when you order optional lenses. I bought a wide angle lens thinking it would fit the camera, later discovering I should have ordered the adapter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Problem using with built in flash, February 23, 2006

This review is from: Kodak Lens Adapter for Z7590 and DX6490 Digital Camera (Electronics)
This adapter works well in natural light settings but doesn't work when using the built in flash on the camera. There's a design flaw that causes underexposed pics when using the flash. It is a great add on for using filters and protecting the lens otherwise.

4.0 out of 5 stars RemoveLens Adaptor: before using the flash, July 19, 2006
This review is from: Kodak Lens Adapter for Z7590 and DX6490 Digital Camera (Electronics)
I found out by trial and error that you must remove the adaptor to get a satisfactory result with the flash. While the lens adaptor doesn't seem to impede the flash it does impede the sensors (exposure meter) to set the brightness on the reflected image.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wide Angle Lens for P 712, June 1, 2007

This review is from: Kodak Lens Adapter for Z7590 and DX6490 Digital Camera (Electronics)
I'm really impressed with this accessory to my Kodak P712. I recently took pictures for a friend who's been house shopping. I got fabulous room shots with the wide angle. I did learn that it's best to disable the flash while using it or you tend to get a shadow at the bottom of the picture because the flash hits the wide angle lens. Otherwise, I love it! Very easy to put on and take off with the adapter. Great for landscapes! A good investment if you're enjoying this camera as much as I am!

Bought this adapter when I bought the wide angle lens for my Kodak digital. I wasn't sure the adapter would be secure enough to hold the weight of the lens, but it works just fine and is trustworthy. Worth the extra money.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little different, September 3, 2007
This review is from: Kodak Lens Adapter for Z7590 and DX6490 Digital Camera (Electronics)
I shoot with a Kodax DX6490 and in the future plan on getting a full telephoto and wide angle - the reason for the adapter. I am still learning my camera. What I found out was that I have to remove the lens adapter when shooting inside as it's hood effect somehow cuts way down on the light entering the sensor.

Otherwise vendor, buying experience was excellent,

Kurt
