Love this camera,

I too love this camera. It won the Consumers Reports best all round value for cost, ease of use and quality of pictures etc. It took some time to find in stores but after getting it for Christmas I have never had a bad picture. People comment on how great the pictures are an I agree. It is light and fits in a pocket, sure its not as small as an Elph, but you need something to hold on to! The controls are easy. I am no photographer but my pictures are suddenly looking great. It is my first APS camera and the joy of not having to worry about having the film load, having the time and date of the picture taken printed on the back of the pictures and the three formats available is a really great. I love this camera, apparently a C800 now exists as well. If it is based on the C700 then I'm sure its great. Its a great price, enjoy!

Kodak C700 Advantix Zoom Camera,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak C700 Advantix Zoom APS Camera (Electronics)
Great little camera that is comfortable to hold. The best feature of this camera is the lack of red-eye when using flash. The camera does not even have a red-eye setting...that annoying strobing flash or steady light before the actual exposure. It doesn't need it because of the generous separation of flash tube to lens. The title imprinting when selected, prints on back of the print and has a choice of 30 titles. Another nice feature is mid-roll rewind. Takes sharp pictures and well worth the money.

Small Camera, Good Pics, Nice Flash Options,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak C700 Advantix Zoom APS Camera (Electronics)
This is a good size for carring everywhere. The pictures are good and crisp. The flash offer three options - none, full, and fill. Fill is my favorite. It is good if the subject is backlit and dark toward the camera. My only problem is with the "auto shut-off" because if you are waiting too long for a shot, say, of a hummingbird, you have to keep "waking up" the camera (which makes noise.)

Great camera, but still leery of film format,
By Nancy Anderson (Westbury, NY USA) - See all my reviews

I purchased this camera after vacationing with 2 disposable APS cameras and being very happy with the results. This camera is very easy to use. The controls are in good positions for your fingers to operate when you are holding the camera, unlike some of the other brands I tried. I agree with the reviewer who said the "sleep" mode comes on too quickly and makes a little too much noise when it "wakes," especially if you are trying to take pictures of animals. My only complaint about the camera is not really about the camera itself but about the film format. Twice so far, the pictures I have developed have "defaulted" to all 4x7 instead of coming out in all three sizes. The camera's book (as well as a Kodak employee when I contacted the company) says that if this happens, it is because the developer's equipment did not properly read the magnetic strip that is encoded on the film. Both suggested asking the developer to reprint the film. Both times this happened to me, the prints came out perfectly the second time around. However, it took quite a bit of persuasion on my part to get the developer to do the reprints (for no charge), and I had to make an extra trip to the store to pick up my new prints a couple of days later. I would be interested to know whether this is a widespread problem or if I simply had bad luck on 2 of the 6 APS rolls I have processed. Since the camera's book addresses the problem and the Kodak employee was aware of it, this is obviously not the first time it has happened. In general, I am very happy with the camera itself and the colors in the prints are very vibrant.

Great Camera,

I have found this to be a wonderful camera. I bought it specifically to take on vacation with me about a year ago. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get a nice little camera that was convenient to try the new Advantix film format. I have enjoyed both. The camera is light, of a nice size, good zoom range, and very versatile in respect to the price. Naturally it is not the best camera on the market, but for the price it can't be beat. The only annoyances I have found is that it automatically defaults back to the 4x7 picture size so you have to remember to change it - also the auto shut-off feature designed to save battery power, all to often I have gone to take a picture and the camera has turned itself off because I left it on for too long. Still, for the price, nothing beats the ease and convenience of this little gem of a camera.

This camera is the best investment I have made ever! The camera suits my needs perfectly for just taking casual pictures or really interesting pictures that you would think would be taken with a real camera. I would reccomend this camera to anyone because of its light weight and its great picture taking ability! SUPERIOR!

My Favorite Camera,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak C700 Advantix Zoom APS Camera (Electronics)
I have had this camera for a year and a half now, and have been very pleased with it. Long after the digital camera has been mailed off to the camera hospital, this workhorse just keeps going with no problems. Aside from the usual family photos, there are two main types of pictures I am taking. The first is of large groups, mostly with moving kids in them, often in a church setting with bad lighting. The Advantix produces a picture that is sharp and clear, with a sense of dimension to it. Not too much red-eye problem. The shutter moves quickly enough, too, so I can get the activity without too much blur. The second type of photo is very close-up (within a couple of feet) of science experiments (we document homeschool lab work with pictures). The Advantix produces a picture which lets us show our equipment, often even the labels on the chemical bottles, and does well distinguishing "before" and "after" in beakers. The only limit to this camera for me is that I can only get 200 and 400 speed film for it. What I really want is 800, but that doesn't seem to be available. I need that faster speed to get good pictures at concerts, where distance and lighting are often problematic. You get an easy to use index print back from the processor. No more trying to figure out which negative you want for copies. Very simple. I like the choice of picture sizes: portrait, group, and panorama. You can also get your photos printed on a CD-Rom and then manipulate as though they were coming from a digital. All in all, for the money I spent, this is one great camera.

great pixs in tough conditions,

I've only shot 2 rolls outside so far, but both of them in tough, off-trail xc skiing situations. The pictures came out beautifully. With 400 ASA film I took some of the best skiing action shots ever (for me). The 30-60 zoom offers good options for framing. My only objections: 1. (As someone else has noted) the button which changes framing is place just where the left forefinger wants to hold the camera, so you can easily trigger it unwantedly. 2. There is quite a lag when you push the shutter button, between setting the exposure, actually taking the picture, and then the auto-wind to the next frame. This timing will take some getting used to.

Not satisfied at all.,
By A Customer

I've had too many problems with this camera and ended up returing it after trying out 2 of them. I find the viewfinder dark to look through making it very hard to take photo's in any other light except very bright. The camera always defalts to 4x7 size leaving me with a lot of cutting to do at home (Kodak told me this is a camera defect). The date/time stamp on the back is so small and faint it's hardly worth it. Every roll of film I have developed comes out differently, whether it's every photo with red-eye, or skin discoloration... There is also a problem with the film memory itself, making the format's come out different than what it was set at (besides the default) Kodak told me it's because the film is so new they are still "working on it". The camera does take very sharp and clear photo's but unfortunatly there was just too many other problems for me to continue using it.
