Glad I bought it,

I do like the camera, it is very easy to use and is a nice balance between small/lightweight with good features, nice zoom, and an affordable price. But there are a few things I'd prefer if I could pick and choose. I don't like the fact that the camera's autofocus gets to decide what to focus on. The only way you get to pick something to focus on is if it's in the dead center of the picture (their "spot focus"). Also, I don't like it that the default setting for an APS picture size is the middle 4 x 7 picture. I prefer the traditional 4 x 6 for most of my pictures and it's hard to always to remember to change it. But like I said, I do like the camera overall, and would recommend it as a good buy.

Nice and Handy for Quick Pixs!,

The C800 is nice and light and fits in your pocket nicely. I really enjoy this aspect of the camera. I enjoy the feature of programming how many prints I want of a certain picture. I just program the camera before I shoot and I can preorder 5 of a group shot if I need that many. I have a large family and I am tired of getting doubles of every picture. This feature seems to save me money. We just returned from a trip out west and the colors seem rich and nice. The viewfinder eyepiece has a focus for individual adjustments which comes in handy when you have two people using the same camera. One thing I don't enjoy as another reviewer mentioned, is that the default setting(and you can NOT change it) is the "H" setting which produces 4x7 pictures, which will not fit in the standard photo albums. I had to purchase a photo album just for this size and the albums out there that hold the 4x7's are limited. I think of the last roll I took, I remembered to set it to the Classic 4x6 size twice.I downsized from a 35mm and it is a bit of an adjustment, but it is of no fault of this camera. Overall I would recommend this camera, but would suggest to Kodak to change the default to the C setting.

Premature Rewind,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak C800 Advantix Zoom APS Camera (Electronics)
After 10 weeks, the C800 began to rewind prematurely, losing shots already taken. Kodak has a repair facility, no instant exchange, and there is a 3-4 week wait according to the technical representative I talked to. The pictures I got with the C800 are great, but there is no way of knowing when the thing will rewind. I have had a 600 Advantix, not as much zoom or as many features but that camera never gave me a minutes trouble and the pictures were just as good. Maybe a lesson learned.

I recently bought this camera and have been really impressed by all the features it has. I really like the midroll film change and the titles that you can stamp on back of the finished photographs. This is definitely a must have camera!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak C800 Advantix Zoom APS Camera (Electronics)
Bought this camera when I thought I was going on a trip to Peru. The trip fell through, but I've had lots of fun with the camera since. I usually take it with me everywhere, just in case I spot something interesting to take photos of. Most recently, the camera has gone snowshoeing with me-I really appreciated the drop-in loading when trying to perform this operation while wearing gloves. Recently developed my first roll of film, and am very impressed with the quality of the pictures, especially the panoramic shots. Be warned, however, developing panoramic shots is expensive...I think I had to pay .90 per panoramic shot, which can add up quickly. However, in exchange, I have a number of gorgeous pictures to admire. Overall, I like the ease of use of this camera, although I wish that the tiny buttons were bigger-its harder than it looks to press a button with the "control button acuator" (to quote Kodak) than you would think. A small ergonomic inconvienience to pay for nice pictures. I'm planning to take it with me when I actually DO make it to Peru-maybe next year! :) Ciao.

Wonderful camera!,

I bought this camera over three years ago, and it never once failed me. It has several useful features, like portrait mode, red-eye reduction (though that's pretty standard in a camera nowadays, it seems), and the ability to take different sizes of pictures. I found the panoramic size to be especially nice. If you plan to take a lot of pictures at night, expect to receive clear, bright results with the camera's night mode. I took a picture in the pitch dark using night mode, and it looks as though the picture was taken in daylight! The self-timer and various flash modes are great, too. Moreover, the camera is very easy to use--once you read the manual, that is. However, one thing to keep in mind is that Advantix film is usually more expensive than regular 35 mm film.

Durable very user friendly camera!,

I purchased this camera prior to taking a two-week European trip and have been impressed with all of it's capabilities. I got the camera just a few days before leaving (mostly because I put off ordering...) and it only took me about 30 minutes to familiarize myself with most all of the features and begin taking photographs.I dragged this camera through all of the castles on the English seaside without so much as a hiccup. It survived the bumps and bruises of scrambbling up narrow stairways and took great photos even in the damp, foggy climate of some of the English towns. I even took some spectacular photos of the Eiffel Tower with the panoramic format - they rival any postcards I saw in the gift shop! The only warning I will offer is that APS film can be slightly more expensive, but I find the multiple formats well worth the extra money for the film. I would highly recommend this camera for anyone looking for a good, reliable, durable, easy to use camera.

Also had premature rewind trouble,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak C800 Advantix Zoom APS Camera (Electronics)
The photos are beautiful and the camera is easy to use, but like a previous poster, I also had rewind trouble, starting with the second roll of film ever put in this camera! I bought this camera specifically for a European vacation and 5 of 14 rolls prematurely rewinded in the middle of the roll (wasting quite a bit of film). But, if this happens to you, know that even though the symbols on the side of the film canister will indicate the roll has never been used, the photos WERE captured, so don't reuse this roll! Still bring the film to your developer and explain to them that photos ARE on the roll, and the symbol on side of the film canister is wrong. I called Kodak when I returned from my trip... the first rep wasn't very helpful, telling me I must have the camera serviced even though it was only 6 weeks old! I finally got a 'consumer advocate' who was extremely helpful! I had a new camera and lots of free film within days (they are aware of this camera's problem). I actually have the C850, but from what I can see, the C800 and the C850 are the same camera... the user's manual cover page has both style numbers on it.
