5.0 out of 5 stars Info on Which Kodak Tray Type Will Work Best With Your Slides
Trying to decide between the two popular 80 capacity trays Kodak produced? The Ektagraphic Universal trays and the Transvue BT80 trays are both designed to work with the exact same projectors. 3.0 out of 5 stars jlc kodak review
The projector is used and looks used, but seems to work o.k. According to the literature there was suppose to be a spare lamp but it wasn't there. Otherwise I am satisfied with the products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Info on Which Kodak Tray Type Will Work Best With Your Slides, January 31, 2008
This review is from: Kodak Carousel Transvue 80 Slide Tray B80T (Electronics)
Trying to decide between the two popular 80 capacity trays Kodak produced? The Ektagraphic Universal trays and the Transvue BT80 trays are both designed to work with the exact same projectors. The latch mechanism design is a little different on them but both types work well, are durable, and both are "Universal" (they both fit the exact same Carousel and Ektagraphic III projector models). The only real difference is the color, so if you prefer black buy the Ektagraphic Universal tray, if you prefer gray buy the BT80 (Transvue) trays.

If you are considering the Kodak 140 capacity trays and your slides are more than 20 years old it can be a bit of a gamble. Many slide types, especially the Kodak cardboard mounts that were so popular for decades, will normally warp just a little with age. When this happens they will still work fine in the 80 capacity trays but tend to jam occasionally (or often depending on the degree of the warp) when used in the 140 capacity tray. So if you have cardboard or plastic mounted slides (and you would like for them to work dependably for years to come) it is safer to stick with the 80 capacity trays.

I have been using this tray from Kodak for the past 20 years. I have not found any faults with the tray. I use 2x2 slides which have been professionaly mounted. I have some slides which date back to 1955 and am still showing them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real workhorse if you still use slides!, October 17, 2011

This review is from: Kodak Carousel Transvue 80 Slide Tray B80T (Electronics)
I've got thousands of Kodachome slides. I know... I'm slowly scanning them and going digital. However, I have a lot of experience with Kodak's Carousel 80 trays, and believe me, this model is the real dependable workhorse. Jamming is rare (be VERY wary of the 140 slide tray... I recommend NEVER using it if you don't want to interrupt your slide show with a jam, or, gasp, a projector that won't accept the 140).

Dependable, dependable, dependable. What else should you expect from a slide tray? Oh, but make sure you ALWAYs double-check the locking ring and, like the safety on a gun, never depend on it. Believe me when I say this!

I first bought a 35mm film camera in 1962 and I used it and another 35mm SLR I bought later until the late 90s. Altogether, I amassed about 7000 2"x2" slides and now long-term storage has become a bit of a problem. It's good that some old 35mm stuff is still available.

I store most of my slides in Logan slide trays, which are still available by the way. However, I have some collections that I use for occasional lectures, collections of family stuff and similar things. Here, it's more convenient to store appropriate slides together and in a format where they can be extracted and quickly used. The old Kodak Universal 80 Slide trays are especially effective for these purposes, especially since I still have a working Kodak 33mm projector in good condition. I tried the 140 slide trays, but they don't work nearly as well. Some of my slides have thick mountings and some are slightly warped. Both flaws can cause problems with the 140 slide trays, but are no problem at all with the classic 80 slider. Alas, I miss the old slide system, but PowerPoint has it's advantages too.

5.0 out of 5 stars what can I say but 'yes'!, December 13, 2009

I have multitudes of family slides and the best way to store them is in their trays. I bought a bunch and just love the ease of throwing one on the projector and laughing with my family as memories of other times come flooding back. The shipping was great, condition was perfect... all is well.

The 80 slide tray is so much easier to use than the 140. The slides don't jam at all.
