Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The Kodak DC3800 combines simplicity with supreme sophistication. Its large, 2.3-megapixel sensor captures images up to 1,901 x 1,212, which translates to clear and vibrant print photographs up to 8 by 10 inches. An auto-flash system incorporates red-eye reduction, fill-flash, and off modes, and the camera's burst mode enables you to capture up to four frames at two frames per second, great for action sequences. This camera compensates for its modest 2x digital telephoto lens with a superb autoexposure system.

The DC3800 package includes a CompactFlash card reader that downloads images from memory cards at 564 KB/second, a rate significantly faster than USB-connected cameras. Perfect for your pocket, purse, or the palm of your hand, the DC3800 is easy to carry and built with class.

5.0 out of 5 stars simple simple simple!, February 11, 2001

Need a camera for the wife, the office, for quick snaps around the family? This did it for me. Good points are obvious. Let's zero in on the bad points after a 10 day trip, lots of activities, and loading, unloading, and connecting to the computer.

1) Definitely needs rechargeable batteries. 2) The lcd is really small and gets all greasy from your nose. 3) It's easy to leave the camera on and drain the batteries without knowing it. 4) You almost always have to use the flash in no redeye mode, which flashes twice sometimes causing you to miss a desired picture. 5) To get a decent frame, you have to get waaaayyyyy close to the topic. I mean like 2 feet away. 6) The flash is only good for about 3 feet in the night time.

About the rest. It's a great little simple camera which I lost since it is so small, and will have to go out and buy another one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small, easy to use, good picture quality, fair price!, February 2, 2001

The compact size and easy interface make this camera desireable. Included is a memory card reader with a USB cable making it even more convenient to use. Those features combined with excellent photo quality (in decent lighting) make it a bargain at... The only short comings are: 1. No physical zoom (unlike the comparable Canon Digital Elph) 2. After pressing the button, the picture isn't taken immediately - meaning if you move the camera immediately after snapping the picture it will be blurry. All in all an excellent buy and I've been very pleased with it. If you're looking for a simple camera with a small size and good picture quality, this is a great choice. I've been very pleased with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kodak dc 3800, November 19, 2001

This is a phantastic camera. I have only had it for 4 weeks, then I fitted it in a remote controlled plane and took wonderful aerial pictures. on the 6th flight it disappeared in a cloud and I never saw it again. Being very light it is ideal for this application. An optical zoom would not be helpful either. A movie mode would have been nice but I think the big advantage of this camera is its simplicity and quite high picture quality.
