Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

PLEASE NOTE: This bundle has been discontinued. However, we now offer an improved bundle featuring the camera, dock, and a 16 MB memory card.

Kodak created the combination DX 3500 digital camera and dock with ease of use in mind. The sporty-looking 2.2-megapixel camera has a 3x digital zoom (no optical zoom) and handles like a point-and-shoot. It contains 8 MB of internal memory and attaches easily to the camera dock, which will upload photos straight from the camera to your computer at the push of a button. The dock also recharges the batteries while connected to the camera.

In addition to its internal memory, the DX 3500 has a CompactFlash card slot if you want to add additional memory capacity. Its 2.2-megapixel sensor creates quality prints up to 8 by 10 inches at a maximum resolution of 1,800 x 1,200 pixels. You can also shoot at a lower resolution of 900 x 600 pixels.

This kit comes with the camera, camera dock, Kodak NiMH rechargeable battery pack, 7-volt AC adapter, video cable, USB cable, wrist strap, Quick Start guide, Kodak Picture software CD, documentation, and a custom camera insert for the dock. It also features a USB port and is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh systems.

The Kodak camera dock is compatible with all Kodak DX-series digital cameras, and includes a USB port for the fast and easy transfer of pictures from camera to computer. Once the camera has been inserted into the dock, simply push a button to transfer your images to a computer. Meanwhile, the dock will recharge the camera's battery pack and act as its power supply. The dock comes with a rechargeable battery pack for your DX camera, and your camera can be stored in the dock anytime. An LCD screen indicates the status of picture transfers and the battery's charge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great photos, easy software! Another great Kodak product!, June 10, 2001
This review is from: Kodak DX3500 2MP Digital Camera Bundled with Camera Dock (Electronics)
This digital camera is a delight to own and use. This bundle is so great because it INCLUDES the Kodak DX 3500 digital camera *and* the Kodak Camera Dock. As someone who has used cameras that do not come with a simple snap-in bundled dock, I've been frustrated, but this makes it soooo easy to upload images to your computer for sharing and/or printing. The dock is also great because it recharges the battery in a snap, instead of fumblign with awkward chargers and losing batterie around the house. ("Honey, where's the battery charging now?")

The camera itself has a 2.2-megapixel sensor that allows you to ceate generous prints up to 8" x 10". Most people tend to stick to the 4" x 6" prints, but it is nice to have the option.

The 3x digital zoom lens with autofocus and 8 MB internal memory is enough for most pictures, but this could have been a bit larger. In some instances you might find yourself hurrying back to the computer to transfer the images so you can take more pics. Depending on the format size of the image, you'll be able to take about 40 photos (more than a 36 exposure roll of tradtional film - yeah!) before needing to transfer images to your computer. Overall, this is a great camera at a super value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast, friendly, great pictures, but one warning!!!, June 10, 2001

Being new to digital photography I wanted a camera that had some bells & whistles, but was still easy to use and had high picture quality. This camera has met the bill, and the camera dock is great! One warning that I found out the hard way: the camera is not friendly to all compact flash cards. I purchased a 64mg Sandisk and it was not compactible. Use Lexar Media and you're up and running and taking great photos!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Digital for Beginners, June 18, 2001

What I love about this camera: 1) Very easy to use--what you see in the viewfinder is what you get. And you can immediately see the results on the LCD screen on the back of the camera. 2) The dock is wonderful-just like a palm pilot for pictures - set the camera in the dock, push the button and your pictures are loaded into the computer. It's that simple! It also recharges the batteries when it is in the dock - a HUGE benefit because the digital cameras need a lot of juice.

What I don't really like: 1) The picture quality is uneven - some pictures are great, some just don't work. Not as much a problem since you can delete them, but that very special photo op may not be captured by this camera (keep a film camera for the most important occasions -- like your son's first home run hit). 2) The camera's user interface is clunky beyond point and shoot pictures. Don't expect a lot of bells and whistles. This is strictly a amateur's camera.

Overall we are very happy with this camera. We get surprizingly good prints out of our epson bubble jet printer (on the special photo paper). It is ideal for the beginner digital camera user who want to send email pictures and take lots of good quality photos for pennies versus the expense of developing film. I gave it five stars because it did everything we asked and more.
