Excellent Budget All-in-One Printer,
By Kristal (MN) - See all my reviews It's also quite easy to use. It took me about 5 minutes to set it up/install all software. The scan/copy controls on top of the printer are really easy to figure out. The SD/HC, MS, MMC card slot is also a great feature. You can just pop in your camera or cell phone's memory card and print without a computer. This feature works great. The primary reason why I bought this printer was it has some of the cheapest ink on the market. $10 for black ink and $15 for color ink! The only con is that the scan quality is not that great. I tried scanning in photos and there are faint white lines in the photo file and it is definitely more grainy than the original photo. I would not recommend this printer if you're planning to use it primarily for the scanning photo feature. However I will say that I have never had/used a personal scanner with really good photo scanning capabilities (so this is about average). In summary, I bought this printer at Wal-mart for $99 and I have no complaints for the price although better photo scanning would have made the printer 5-star worthy.

My frugal spouse encouraged me to buy this printer believing the ad hype that tells us it will save us on ink costs. Weary of the constant HP "low ink" pop ups I relented and purchased the Kodak all-in-one. This printer has all the undesirable qualities other reviewers have described and more. It is painfully slow, anoyingly loud, the ink has to be replacesd at least as often as any HP I've used and what's worse is it refuses to print after IT thinks the ink is low. I worked for Kodak for 35 years and I know they would never accept such a product from a vendor. They should be ashamed of themselves for putting such junk on the market. This is not your father's Kodak product.

AWESOME!,
Doesn't suck up ink! Also, incredibly cheap black and color cartridges. B-E-A-utiful prints - crisp colors on photo paper, and fast printing to boot. Go figure - a great buy from a company that spent years doing camera film and photos.
If you are a small business owner or looking to replace a current family printer, GIVE THIS A SHOT!

My folks just received this printer and it's a lemon. It seemed to work fine out of the box. We printed a few things and all was well. Then we turned it off and it never worked again.
The unit goes through a slow start-up process and finally gives an error saying the print head is jammed. Here is what happens: During the start-up, the print head moves to the far left under the shroud. There is a head cleaning mechanism that slides forward under the print head. This locks the print head in place and the printer shoots a bit of ink into the extraction pad to clear out the print nozzles of old drying ink. Then the cleaning mechanism should slide backwards and bring two squeegees into play to wipe off the print head. After that the cleaner should retract further back and down to get out of the way for printing. On our printer the cleaner gets stuck at the first stage and never unlocks the print head. The printer doesn't know it's stuck and it tries to move the carriage to re-index it causing some grinding noises and the jam error. You can, using a bit of coat hanger, push the cleaner back to allow the head to move but since this cycle happens every time the printer starts up I am back to square one. I cannot rate much on this printer as we only got a few minutes working time to play with it but I give it a low score based on the jam issue that seems common on other Kodak models and poor design and manufacturing. Kodak, along with other names we grew up with and came to trust like Zenith, Rca, GE, Bell & Howell, etc., is nothing like it used to be.

Lives up to the hype,

I am very pleased with this printer for the applications I purchased it for. It serves me well as a home printer for photos, coupons, etc. The copy I made of an official birth certificate was an exact replica aside from the raised seal on the original.
I also print labels on it using label software and have had no problems. I would venture to say that anyone who has significant issues with it either received an aberrant product or needs to become more familiar with printer and PC specs. I replaced a Canon that was costing me about $55 to replace both black and color. It made wonderful copies, but I was always making excuses not to print something.

Half of the ink cartridges, when brand new, registered as empty with the printer. When one worked, it dried up within a few days. The print quality is very poor - bleeding on white printer paper and all photo paper prints were a joke. The colors were muddy and way off.
Kodak should be ashamed of themselves for ever putting this on the shelves.

I purchased this printer from Walmart. I am not writing this review the day after I purchased this printer, the time where you first just think I just have to get used to this new product. They advertise the ink is cheaper than all other cartridges. That is correct, but with two kids in junior high and high school and 1 report each a day later, the cartridge is empty. You might get a total of 10-12 properly printed pages and then it just gets real faint, a lot of lines through the printing. The print time......well you'll be waiting awhile. Takes forever for the print head to align (close to a minute) and its noisy as all get out. When not in use, you don't want to leave it on, it keeps trying to align the print heads.......Its a cheap printer, poorly made, and just isn't worth the value in any way. Save your money.

Not worth the trouble,

Purchased this for "Grandma" for her apartment. All she needs is a printer to connect to a PC. This printer lasted all of a couple of weeks and ended up with some strange error about could not find the scan home. As others have commented, it was a tad noisy and just felt cheap. Went back and got an equally inexpensive HP printer which is still working just fine. Yeah, the ink will be more, but I can't afford the annoyance of a printer dying and having a confused relative under the guise of saving some dollars on ink. Good idea from Kodak.. poor implementation.

The majority of the time (I'd say about 80%) this printer will not work. First of all, no matter how carefully I line up the paper and the guides, it almost always takes it in crooked and wrinkles it. Sometimes that causes a paper jam. Most of the time when I try to print without changing any of the standard settings, just click on OK, I get an error message that there is a problem and I start over, eventually getting a copy (sometimes). Every time I try to print with any changes to the standard setting (print selection, draft, two-sided printing, etc.), it gives me some kind of error message and won't print at all. Several times my computer has frozen when this happens and I have to restart. I have only had this printer for a short time and it has rarely printed any of my documents. I would like to smash it to bits; I will never buy another Kodak product; Do not buy this cheap piece of junk!

So far it does everything it is supposed to do..and well. The supplied ink cartridges clearly say "introductory" on them so it should be no suprise if they don't last as long as they might. I have copied, scanned and printed both photos and documents on different kinds of paper with no problems at all. It IS a little noisy...but no worse than the HP it is replacing (Scans both quieter and faster than the HP). I probably would give it 5 stars, but for two things: I think a printer with ONLY USB connectivity should come with a USB cable. This wasn't a problem because I knew it wouldn't and I had one laying around. The second thing is I haven't had it long enough to speak to it's durability.
