This review is for the Kodak P820 digital photo frame.I spent about three hours trying to figure out exactly what the ideal resolution is for this photo frame. It is 16:9 aspect ratio which is great, however, other reviewers here and elsewhere say 800x480 is ideal which is inaccurate. That will produce less than ideal results. So, 16:9 is 1.78 aspect ratio which means that 854x480 is the best resolution for this frame. That resolution will fill the entire width/height without any stretching or cropping. I do not recommend trying anything larger than this, when the photos get too large they will take a lot longer to load and may even reduce the quality of the photos when displayed. I do not know if the included software makes this easy to figure out but I spent quite a bit of time working with Adobe Photoshop and created a cropping preset for 854x480 cuts which ended up working out for making beautifully displayed photos on the P820. My frame arrived with a couple stuck pixels which is disappointing but not show-stopping since they are not really noticeable while the frame is displaying a slideshow. The shuffle option is only mildly impressive. When it "shuffles" it "shuffles" exactly the same way every time you tell it to play a slideshow of all your photos. After watching it a couple times I knew what the next few photos were going to be in the sequence. To me, that is not a shuffle. The viewing angles and features are decent but I guess I expect more for something that costs almost about half as much as a 19" widescreen LCD monitor. I have an 8" GiiNii frame which performs well and looks just as good at less than half the cost of this frame. 3/5 stars.

I bought this for my folks but they had already purchased one themselves. We opted to keep and use this one. It's a nice design. I prefer to do my own photo editing so I chose to load my pictures onto a 2GB SDHC card myself instead of installing the packaged software and linking the unit to my computer. It took me seconds to load a couple of hundred pictures to the card via my usb card reader. The unit menu is pretty straight forward and easy to navigate.Pros Just load the memory card and you're pretty much up and running. Programmable on-off timer (also see cons) Easy to use touch frame navigation menu (smart idea) Two matting choices included Adjustable brightness settings. Vivid color display Cons A on-board battery would be nice to maintain clock memory Only two choices for playback of pictures. By file name or by date of the file. The playback options limitation really is the only real negative here for me. Anyone who has a lot of pictures on their computer or disc is unlikely to have them all named in a manor that would benefit using this feature. A few more options would be nice. Like random for instance. Overall its a good unit.

I love this Kodak frame. The 8" size is sooo much bigger than the 7" I bought my grandparents at Christmas time. The pictures are clear and beautiful, especially the ones I took of the butterflies at the San Diego Wild Animal Park in April. The touch features make it easy to set-up and change settings. I put in a 2gb card and have about 1500 pictures going through on a random slideshow all the time. When I want to put new pictures in I put another SD card in the side slot and use the touch border to copy them to the card in the top slot. I recommend this frame and even ordered another one as a gift for my mom.

This Frame is Simple, but Elegant,
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare P820 8-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Electronics)
I got this frame for my mother's birthday and she loves it. She's very picky about what she likes and doesn't care for most digital photo frames because of their bulky, plastic rims with company logos slapped on their fronts. The P820 has none of that. This frame is very simple, but I think it actually helps to accent the photos it's displaying. The white matte border gives the product a clean, stylish appearance. In addition, the pictures displayed are crisp, with vivid colors. I can see details fairly well even from about thirty feet away at various viewing angles. It's easy to use and a nice accent to our home. I would highly recommend this product.

I gave this to my mother, is very easy to use, and very nice quality. The touch button in side and bottom are very useful.

Easy to use. Love it. One note, the easiest way to get images to the frame is a memory stick. I would just purchase one with the frame if you do't already have one.

Kodak EasyShare P820 8-Inch Digital Picture FrameMy purpose in purchasing this frame was to share my travel pictures with friends. I loaded my pictures on a USB drive that I plug into the frame. It provides a nice slide show and I will enjoy looking at them again from time to time. I did not attempt to load pictures into the frame so I cannot speak to ease or difficulty of that process. The quality of the picture is excellent and I am very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this frame for my Mom. She has a bunch of pictures she has taken, and no real way to display them except on the computer. The Frame is not overly complicated for her, yet has plenty of fetures. It has a nice picture, and its firmware is upgradeable by downloading it from Kodak onto a memory stick and putting it in. The touch frame is nice, though don't expect something like an iPhone, although it works well. I found it easiest to touch the small ridge around the frame. The other option she liked was the fact she can plug a thumb drive into it and just use that. She got a 3-pack from a local store and has sorted them into different themes. One might have just pets, the other vacations, one of friends and family. If you are looking for a good mid-level first digital frame I would pick up this one. My mom is happy with it, and I'm thinking about getting myself one.

poor design and slow - but nice quality display,

This digital frame has a very nice display (good job Kodak!) but has a very slow processing time making it very tedious to load and arrange slide shows or transfer pics to the frame. Given other very good and easy to use options out there I'd rate this a two - except that it's NOT CHEAP. The cost of this frame (even at discount) is equal to or higher than displays of equal quality that have better options and ease of function.Pros: nice display Cons: No internal memory, No video or music capability, not at all intuitive, no battery, functions slowly

The photo quality is decent but I am giving this one star because there is a shuffle option - but it doesn't work! I have tried again and again but can only get it to display the photos in the order they were taken (or reverse) or by file name. My parents are tired of seeing the same 100 photos every day after they turn it on. They never even get to see photos #101 - #600! I am going to buy a different brand. Very disappointed with Kodak. No wonder they are on the verge of going out of business.
