Very easy to use.

When in the Pictures / folders menu, a folder will not show up in the list unless you have at least one photo in the folder.

Then, approximately three months later, when I went to turn it back on, it wouldn't turn on.

I now have 4 photo frames, each is from a different manufacture and there are differences between them!

This review is divided into the following sections.
QUICK SUMMARY
PROS
CONS AND ANNOYANCES
WORKAROUNDS
MISC STUFF not in the documentation

I bought the Kodak frame partly because of the larger amount of memory it has and, after all, it is from Kodak. I have gotten good stuff from them in the past so I had high hopes for this frame.

QUICK SUMMARY:
The photos look good.
They have tried to make it very easy to load photos onto the frame (but I'm not sure they succeeded)
Would I buy this model again? NO, there are other frames that I found easier to use.

I am not especially happy with this frame. This is mainly due to 2 items:
1) The frame will not display photos from my camera (a Panasonic Lumix FX01) unless I first strip all the metadata from them (more details on this below) and
2) The menu system and remote they provide are not very good in my opinion.

If you just want to dump your photos onto the frame and then let it rip, this frame is for you. Your photos will look good.
If you want more options, easier remote and menu system then keep looking. I have had less hassle with the other frames that I have purchased.

PROS:

The photos look good on the display. The firmware even does something to help lighten photos that are dark.

It has a remote. I like this better than fishing for buttons on the backside. That said, the back side buttons are not that hard to use, mainly because almost everything can be done with the one big button that functions like 4 arrows and an enter. A 2nd button acts as a backup button.

When I first received this frame I photoshopped a mess of photos to download. After I downloaded the pics, the frame had a mind of its own. It would crash (shut off/turn back on), vertical hold spazzed out, just like an old tube television and it would only display 50 out of 250 photos downloaded. I could go into the files on the frame and see the photos but the frame would not display then on slide show or individually from the menu and it didn't like it when you tried. I was ready to send it back but maybe it was something I did wrong. I sent an e-mail from the Kodak web site to tech support that evening. The next morning I had a reply from tech support, with the reasons the pics wouldn't display. 1)The frame only accept 2 formats JPEG and Exif, 2)It only works with pics saved as Baseline ("standard"). After photoshoping I had saved the pictures as Baseline Optimized. Deleted Pics from frame resaved as Baseline ("standard") and now I love this frame. I didn't really need to photoshop 99% of the photos, the frame does it's own photo fix and crop. Unless your pictures are really bad, you just download them. It has facial recognition to so when cropping pics for the collage peoples faces are not cut in half and the remote is the icing on the cake. I reiterate I Love this Frame.. Get one you will love it to and if you do have a problem E-mail Kodak, their tech support knows their stuff.

I did a fair amount of searching and actually bought two other frames before sticking with this one. The contempory look of the frame fits well with our downstairs decor. The actual picture takes up a majority of the frame unlike some frames where the frame and mat are huge and the actual picture is small. I keep all of our pictures on the desktop PC so to use this I simply load up a USB flash drive with the pictures I want then plug it into the frame. A few simply steps on the remote and the frame starts loading the pictures. You can display your pictures at different speeds. You can also display multiple pictures at once. Right now I only have about 300 pictures on the frame so less than 2% of the memory is being used...2GBs is awesome. You can display pictures from a certain folder or from a certain date but be warned... displaying pictures with a certain tag or of a certain person requires the picture having been taken with a compatible Kodak camera. As for the pictures, they look great but I felt the need to decrease the brightness. Two last things, I'm not sure how the activity sensor works. The frame is on when its busy in our home but just walking by it or making noise does not make it come on. I cannot find documentation on exactly how it works but its fine. Lastly, I love that the remote has a magnet in it that sticks to the magnet hidden in the back of the frame. You use the remote then stick it back on the back of the frame for safe keeping.

We are quite satisfied with the Kodak EasyShare P850 8" Digital Picture Frame. The clarity of color and resolution are both excellent. It was easy to download photos from a memory card to the device. Within a short period of time we were able to set the desired options (background, date, time, scroll speed and format) using the remote. The programmable timer turns the frame on and off during the hours we are likely to be in the room, but it is easy to turn it on at other times. We purchased the 8" rather than the 7" so that we could view entire portrait shots as well as the landscape. The frame rights the photos automatically. There are several other features that we haven't tried yet.
