4.0 out of 5 stars Kodak lives up to its legacy in the digital realm, August 31, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare Z760 6.1 MP Digital Camera with 3xOptical Zoom (Electronics)
I am thoroughly impressed with the Kodak Z760 digital camera. Not only does it take superb hi-res digital pictures, but controls are easy to use. Most functions are written out in plain English rather than cryptic abbreviations or hieroglyphic icons. The flexibility to use either preset camera settings for any occasion, or to customize your own if you are a photo pro is another big plus that makes this camera appealing to a wide range of photo enthusiasts.

The Kodak EasyShare software that comes with the camera is a bit clunky and overbearing, but it's easy to use and it tracks when you took your pictures and where you downloaded them with relative ease.

All in all, this is a great camera to have. Compact size, simple to use, and a decent sized screen to read clear font text instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars great kodak colors!, August 22, 2005
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare Z760 6.1 MP Digital Camera with 3xOptical Zoom (Electronics)
this is a solid point and shoot camera. easy to use, it produces pictures with rich, vibrant tones kodak is famous for. there is also a printer dock that recharges the batteries (no need to remove the battery--just put the camera on top of the dock). the dock also prints at the touch of a button. no computer is necessary, but if you hook the dock to one, you can even send e-mails! the prints have a clear coat so they don't run or smudge, like some ink jets prints do.
anyhow, a great camera at a great price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great camera at a reasonable price, December 22, 2005

I've had this camera for a couple of weeks now, and am very pleased with it. I bought a 1G memory card for it, and even taking 6.1 MP photos it will hold about 525 photos!

The video capabilities are good, though obviously not as good as a digital video camera. You can video any length up to the capacity of your memory card. The downside is that the clips are in Quicktime format instead of a more easily "swappable" format such as .mpeg, etc.

The camera seems to perform a little less than desirable in low-light situations on the "auto" setting (photos are dark even with the flash), but by playing with the manual controls I've been able to compensate for that. There are multiple "scene" settings built in ("sports" for outdoor action shots, "snow" for outdoor snow scenes, etc.), most of which I'll probably never use, though the "macro" setting will be used a lot.

The LCD screen works well especially in outdoor sunlight.

The camera uses a lithium-ion battery, not a AA like many digitals. Don't know how many photos it'll take before you have to recharge, but I think Kodak estimates around 250 or more.

The photo software that comes with it is easy to use, and I especially like the editing tools. The red-eye correction works great, and there are some other fun tools as well. Just this morning I took a photo of my daughter and converted it with the "coloring book" tool to a coloring sheet. She now has a black-and-white outline of the photo she can color herself.
