Great Little Camera,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
This is a really great little camera. Our first digital. Looked at several 2.0 meg camera's. Really liked the features of the Kodak 4230 w\docking station. Basically you just point and shoot; and with the docking station there are no cables or wires to hook up every time you want to download your pictures from your camera to you computer. You just set the camera in the docking station and press the share button and everthing else is done for you. I am using Win ME and the bundled software works very nice. It's so easy to use. It enables you to send pictures to family and friends with just typing in, both email addresses and pressing the button. Very simple!Picture quality is very good. And how cool to take pictures and get them on your computer just that quick is a real plus for us.

Love it!,

This is my first digital camera and I was a little nervous getting started. However, the instructions were easy to follow-I was editing photos around 2 hours after unpacking, installing, and following directions(which is good for a novice:) There is a great website for reference and I could use the photo system installed on my computer (Photo Studio). Photos can be edited to black and white and sepia (cool effects)from Kodak software included. Does not come with carrying case but does have batteries-you'll need a memory card and I'd recommend getting the camera dock II.

Windows XP Problem,
By A Customer "acustomer2" (Malibu, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
I have a different model Kodak camera, however they all use the same EasyShare software. Running Windows XP, I could not get the software to work properly. After several hours on the phone with Kodak tech support, they couldn't get it working either. They said they are aware of the problem. It is now several weeks later and they still don't have a fix. They don't really seem to care either. It might not be a bad idea to consider other brands, instead of Kodak. Since, if the software won't work properly, then what good is the camera?

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
We purchased this camera for my son's Christening and were very disapointed. The picture quality was extremely poor,we ended up getting pictures of our special event from our guests since the digitals were so grainy. One of the features that attracted us to the EasyShare was the ability to recharge the battery on the dock, however the life of the rechargable battery was extremely short. We were not able to take more than 8 or 10 pictures before the battery went dead. I gave this camera 2 stars because I did like the camera design, easy of use and number of editing features. Unfortunately these features are not enough to outweigh the fact that the pictures produced were useless even on a superior HP Photo Printer.

Problems from the beginning,

Had serious problems getting any where near decent quality photos. Then, after only 2 days of use, took the camera to make pictures of the grandkids and the camera would never load. The LCD never cleared--just a blur. Ending up returning the product.

Kodak Easy Share CX4230 2 MP camera with Docking Station,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
We gave this camera to our 17 year old daughter for christmas and within minutes she had figured out how to use it and how to download the pictures onto her pc. We only had to help her hook up the docking station to her pc but then she was downloading in minutes. She loves this camera and we are now ordering a multimedia card so she can store a ton of photos on an upcoming trip to Italy and download them all when she gets home.

My friend had this camera so I was able to use it before purchasing it. Once I purchased it, I found it a wonderful camera. The zoom is exceptional, which enables you to get very close to your subject. You can even zoom a picture after it has been taken. The pictures are exceptional, so if you are debating with going with higher megapixels, I do not think you will be disappointed with a 2.0 unless you are a professional.I also purchased the docking station which is very simple, however, if you are real comfortable with computers and uploading items, you won't really need this. I also purchased the camera case, rechargeable batteries, and a memory card. I am very satisifed with all those as well. I have found that it is a little difficult to photograph children due to their quick movement. But, you are able to set the camera (very easily) to a live mode which enables you to see with the view screen what you are photographing, which is much easier than trying to view it through the small eye window. If some of you are purchasing this camera mainly to photograph children, this is still a great camera. Just don't try to catch them running around. There are ways to adjust the shutter speed, but I haven't even needed to read the manual yet. I have Windows XP and I have not had any problems at all with software. I recommend you double check the operating software requirements before purchasing. Windows XP has some bugs, but that is not entirely Kodak's fault. I recommend this camera to anyone who is a beginner with digital photography. You will have lots of fun!

Nice Camera for the Money,
By Southern and Still Blue (Asheville, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
I read the first two reviews and feel terrible that these two poor souls had so much trouble. I used it for several days before sending it on to my daughter in California and the pre-charged battery shot 60 pictures with no sign of slowing down. The pictures were terrific for a 2.2MP camera -- sharp, decent color, and they enlarged to 5x7 flawlessly. I use an inexpensive Canon S600 printer, so it isn't like the printer could have made up for poor image quality.I have owned a Kodak DC4800 for 18 months and have had great results so I didn't hesitate to buy another Kodak, and I was not disappointed with the CX4230. It's a great starter camera for the budding digital photographer and I have recommended it to my friends who went right out and purchased one. So far they say love theirs, too. The only big drawback is that the battery didn't come with an adapter that lets you charge it in the camera, which the DC4800 does. Apparently, you have to purchase an expensive docking station -- a useless thing since you can upload pictures with the USB cable that comes with it. A $$... or $$... power adapter would have been a reasonable thing to include. That is all that keeps me from giving it the full five stars.

Check out tech support before you buy...,
By Theodore Martin (Las Vegas, NV USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
I bought this camera based on the reviews I read here. I spent a half a day attempting to install the Kodak EasyShare software from the CD with no success. I eventually managed to connect to their web site to try and download the software but it is just as buggy and wouldn't install. The drivers did load and I am able to connect to the camera and transfer the photos to my computer using Windows Explorer. I do have some other graphics software so it is not a total loss. If you're smart you will go to a company's web site and see if they have a phone number for tech support and see if you can contact them before you buy anything. Kodak has no such tech support numbers for the US on their web site. I'm really upset with myself for relying solely on these reviews.

This review is from: Kodak Easyshare CX4230 2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom and Docking Station (Electronics)
This was my first digital camera. I had the software downloaded and picutres taken within 4 hours. It was really easy to use and transfer to my computer with the easy share button. The only problem I had was getting it to update my addresses to my camera, but I finally got it working. The software is easy to use also.I just love this camera |
