Good not great,

This review is from: Kodak Glossy Photo Paper, 8.5 x 11 Inches, 100 Sheets per Pack (8209017) (Office Product)
I bought this paper to use for scrapbooking. It is fine for that purpose. I also had a few sheets of hp advanced that I used and I noticed on those sheets the colors are more vivid and it produces a more quality page. If your not picky the Kodak paper is fine. It's only noticable if the papers are side by side. Knowing what I know now, though, I would have spent the extra money for the hp paper.

This is a 6 mil paper and is very thin, but if you just want to print for a frame, then it is great.

Works for my purposes,

The paper is a cross between regular paper and photo paper, because it's glossy like a photo, but thin like a piece of paper.
I like it good for scrapbooking, because it doesn't matter how thick the photo is, just that it printed good & I like the little bit of gloss. Plus it was a good price for all the photos that I print out for me & my kids to scrapbook.

Corporate Greed Hits Photo Paper,

The paper bleeds the ink, and you end up with mud. The other person who in their review said it is worse than plain paper is 100% correct. Ignore anybody who says they got decent results, because the wouldn't know decent results ...
I just got off the phone with a Kodak Customer Care Supervisor. He kept blathering on about a "compatibility issue". I kept explaining that the packaaging states "compatible with ALL inkjet printers". I told him this is not a "compatibility issue" but rather a CREDIBILITY issue. They are knowingly marketing garbage, saying it can do something that it can't. ... like Snake Oil. I asked if he would send me a package of "Kodak Picture Paper" to make up for my wasted money. He said no. I said "so you're telling me tough luck" He said, "Uh-huh" I don't like to deal with corporate attitudes like that, so now I won't buy the "Kodak Picture Paper" either.

This stock is perfect for button making!,

I make 1" buttons (badges, pins, etc.) and have never been able to find a "consumer-grade" glossy photo paper that is thin enough to work inside a button fixture until now.
This paper allows me to print high-quality designs on my inkjet with amazing clarity & color depth. The thickness is just perfect for making buttons (where regular paper was the only option before). I use an Epson printer & Epson inks and unlike the others, have had no issues with print-quality. My advice to those individuals would be to check their paper settings when setting up their print-jobs. It should be no different than printing on any standard glossy photo paper. I consider this paper the only solution for my purposes and will continue to recommend it to others.

DON'T BUY FOR CANON PRINTERS!,

Both of Kodak's "3-star" glossy and matte finish photo paper is just not up to par with any canon paper. The final product leaves way more reddish tint on faces that has to be corrected. The thin paper just doesn't say "quality".

Good enough, but more satin than glossy,

This review is from: Kodak Glossy Photo Paper, 8.5 x 11 Inches, 100 Sheets per Pack (8209017) (Office Product)
Each year I print photo calendars for Christmas gifts. I use glossy photo paper because it looks best with the photos I use. Normally I buy the big-box office store brand; the paper weight and glossiness is good enough for my use. I ran out of that paper and needed more. When I went back to the store I found this Kodak glossy paper at a significant discount (50% of what you see listed here), so I bought it. This review is mostly comparing the store brand against Kodak.
I use a Canon MP600 printer, with regular (not photo) Canon inks. I use the "standard" quality setting, and the "glossy" paper setting; these provide a good print for my calendar images without using more ink and taking longer to print. The most significant difference between the two papers is the finish. The store brand is definitely *glossy*. This Kodak paper is significantly less so. It's not matte (that's a separate line of paper), but more like satin. You can notice this even before you print. The satin finish makes my photos look a bit dull compared to the store brand. Kodak's box says the paper is "optimized for Kodak inkjet printers", but is "compatible with all inkjet printers". The colors on my prints appear "correct" - or close enough that it doesn't matter to me. The store brand is a bit heavier (49lb vs 48lb) and a bit thicker (7mil vs 6.5mil) than Kodak. For my purposes this is no big deal. However, when the Kodak prints came out of the printer there was a bit of paper "waviness", caused by the amount of ink being laid down. The prints were dry, but wavy. I let them sit flat on a table overnight and they flattened out. My calendars have an expected lifetime of a year, so I'm not concerned about fading. Both the store brand and Kodak are listed as being the lowest quality: "standard photo paper" for the store and "photo paper" for Kodak. Bottom line: I'm not too disappointed in the Kodak paper. However, given that the Kodak list price at the big-box store is very close to that of the store brand, I would not buy this paper again unless it was significantly discounted like it was this time. The store brand is better for my purposes.

I think it is time Kodak got a fair review on this product. I decided to take a gamble on it even knowing it probably wouldn't meet my expectations. Upfront: If you are looking for photo quality prints, do not buy this paper. Use Kodaks star rating system that they provide for a reason and purchase 4 or 5 star paper. Personally I am quite happy with the quality prints of their 4 Star Premium Paper, At least in the 4x6 size I feel it is photo quality, or at least very very close to it. I couldn't tell a difference between the 4 star, and the 5 star Ultra Premium paper. (haven't printed an 8x10 yet, will update this if my opinion changes after doing so) so unless you are trying to sell prints, go for the 4 star. You will not be disappointed.
Now back to the 3 star. The print quality is slightly better than the paper I found at my local dollar store. Keep this in mind before purchasing. Color photos it does not produce. It would be great for scrapbooking, or other arts and crafts that you want to be better than just paper prints. Could also be very useful for flyers or post cards. I am not completely disappointed though. Black and white prints turn out just fine in my eyes. Bottom line, you get what you pay for, and I commend Kodak for being upfront about it with a rating system. I am not supposed to mention prices, but lets see if they will let me do this. I paid just a little more for half the sheets of the 4 star Premium paper (Kodak Glossy Premium Photo Paper, 8.5 x 11 Inches, 50 Sheets per Pack (8360513))and it is worth the extra money. FYI: I am using the Kodak ESP 5 All In One Printer.

Kodak, the First Name in Paper, is Now Last On My List,
By Ethan A. Winning "ewin64" (Walnut Creek, CA) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)

I had been using Kodak film and paper for over 40 years, and now am truly saddened by what has happened to what was an American institution. I saw the end of film, evidently before Kodak did. But I still believed that their paper would be top quality as it has been for the 60 years (yes, 60) that I used Kodak paper. I don't know why, but in comparing Kodak to HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, HP gets 4.5 stars and Kodak 2. With Kodak, I've had some bleeding problems and, few though they may be, an 8x10 uses a lot of ink - expensive ink - and to toss a photo because of bleeding or fading or crinkling is just too expensive and disappointing for me.
It's not all about money, but it it's certainly the major factor. Still, when used on an Epson or HP printer, Kodak paper just doesn't live up to the claims of the company. While I have had to let others dry for a day (to be safe) so they won't stick to frames or other photos, Kodak seems to need even more time. I've had some fading which just should not be. But perhaps the worst problem is slippage and ultimate crinkling or printing off-center. I have not used this on a Kodak printer. The only Kodak printer I purchased did not work, and I returned it and bought a Canon. Now that that has broken after 3 years, I'll be looking at Canon and Epson, but not Kodak and not HP. Much as I like HP's paper, their ink is even more expensive than others. My new life goal at this point is to have a printer break just as I've used up all the ink that I have for it. Since I'll have HP paper, THAT is the only thing I don't have to worry about.

We use this Kodak paper for wine labels. It prints beautifully, has good adhesion on the back side, and is light enough to hold a curl against the bottle. The price was fantastic. I'd buy a hundred boxes if I could! With a continuous ink system for my inkjet printer, this is a perfect solution.
