The touch screen makes all the difference,

Bought this as a gift for my mom so that she wouldn't need to print digital pics anymore. The touch screen makes all the difference. That's what differentiates this digital frame from most others with clunky buttons,hard-to-navigate menus, and remote controls.

only works for close-ups due to lack of definition/pixels,

This review is from: Kodak P720 Easyshare 7-Inch Digital Frame (Electronics)
This display does a pretty nice job with close-ups of one or two faces, but pictures with three or four people in a group don't show up well, as the faces become pixelated -- the facial features are broken up because there are not enough pixels in a square inch to define those small features accurately. The faces in such pictures are distorted, as for example nostrils are magnified, lips are squared-off, etc. Close-ups look much better as there are a lot more pixels dedicated to represent each feature, allowing the natural shape of the facial features to emerge.

I have had this digital frame for almost a week, and I am extremely pleased with the way it works. It is exactly what I wanted. I am no photographer; I have a lot of pictures on my computer, and I wanted to be able to copy them to a memory key, and then be able to view them on the frame. It all works seamlessly and with great ease. The touch commands take but a few minutes to figure out. For me, it seemed easy to separate pictures on different memory keys whether they are in portrait on landscape mode. The frame is right here on my desk; it is pretty small to have it at any great distance, and I could not imagine hanging it on the wall. It is not the faciest, and perhaps at some time in the future I might want something better. I highly recommend it, and hope that you will be as pleased with it as I am.

Some good points and bad points,

I bought this frame as a mother's day gift because my mom was always talking about wanting to have a digital picture frame on her desk. Since it is for her desk the size is great. Even though it is plastic, the frame itself looks better than most since it doesn't have the bulky plastic frame like so many others. Quality wise the pictures are just ok - nothing stunning, but they look decent. I also like the touch border concept, which was easy to navigate. Now on to the really bad part. Perhaps it was just the frame we got but on the second power up no pictures would display. It just wouldn't recognize the SD card for some reason. When we would take out the SD card and put it back in we would get a purple screen of death and the whole thing would just freeze. This went on and on and on until eventually, after numerous times of taking out the card and putting it back in, it decided to start working again. This was the last time I saw the frame since it is now home with my mom, but from what I saw I was very disappointed. Perhaps given some more time Kodak will improve this product and it will be great, but right now it needs some more work.

Great product - great value,

I bought this Kodak digital frame for my in-laws. It performed flawlessly and is so easy to use even the technically challenged can figure it out. I personally own an "off-brand" frame and was impressed with the outstanding picture quality and extra features of this Kodak product. I would buy another, and I may - for myself!

Not Plug 'n Play for elderly,
By
This review is from: Kodak P720 Easyshare 7-Inch Digital Frame (Electronics)
OK. I was just setting this puppy up for my mother-in-law and was into a head-banging loop because, like others here, the "touch screen" was not working. Went to the Kodak site, did their trouble shooting sequence and found out that YOU DON'T TOUCH THE SCREEN -- ONLY THE PLASTIC BORDER OF THE SCREEN. Have to say I missed that in my quick scan of the instructions. It should really be marked in bold in the instructions and maybe a bold border drawn around the touch section on the frame. Sure, always read the instructions, but reading the problems here, it seems that others may be having this same problem. Especially when it's assumed it's a "touch screen" -- it's not. Also, the Quick Start instruction sheet came only in French & Spanish. So, it works pretty good after that (though we're only talking 10 minutes now). As with too many gizmos, I don't think an elderly person can fiddle with it successfully. If you're getting it for someone with arthritis or techno-phobia (even mild), you've got to fully set it up so it's literally plug 'n play. Ideally, you even do the plugging. I did not use their software. Using your own SD card or USB is probably the way to go -- put all the photos on that. g.

This is a decent photo frame for the money. I bought it for my parents, who aren't terribly technology savvy, and for that I think it was a good choice. With a little guidance out of the gate, they won't have any problems. I was disappointed that there was no internal memory to transfer a photo to from a card, but wrote it off as getting what you pay for. The photos come up a bit fuzzy, but as mentioned, close ups look fine. Some of the transition options are pretty nice in the slide show.PS- I've been cracking up a little bit at all the reviews that state they are taking it back because the touch screen doesn't work. It's not a touch screen. There is a thin strip around the border that is touch sensitive and brings up the on screen menu, but that menu itself is not touch screen. It's all operated by the strip around the screen. It's a touch BORDER. I admittedly made the same mistake at first, but then opened up the manual and on the first or second page it references the correct operation.

Stay away from this product!!!,

Like several of the reviews already given for this product, ours didn't even power up. When I called Kodak product support, I had to ship it to them and pay for the shipping myself. Shows you how much Kodak stands behind their product. I've dealt with other electronic companies like Philips. If their product is defective, they replace it no questions asked and they cover all shipping. Not true with Kodak. So buyers, beware. I had to put 1 star only because I can't leave it zero. But this product is a ZERO.Unsatisfied customer from NY.

I got mine about a year ago and it is still working just like new. It was so easy to set up and work that I ended up getting a second one for my not so tech-savvy parents; they love it too!

My grandparents love this gift - was very easy to load - just put photos on a card, plug the card into the frame and go. Didn't even need the software if you use Windows Explorer to copy your photos onto your camera card.
