Koh-I-Noor Progresso Woodless Colored Pencils 24 Color Set I'm an aspiring artist and have done several colored pencil drawings and portraits using these pencils. I've tried Prismacolor colored pencils, and other brands, before and have been frustrated because I can't get a very sharp tip for the areas that require high detail. Most pencils, if I try to sharpen them too closely, will break off at the tip, so I end up going through them really quickly and wasting a lot of time sharpening. I don't have that problem with these woodless colored pencils: I can sharpen them to as fine a point as I require without having to worry about the points snapping off. I also get a lot more use out of the medium because I get an entire pencil size's worth instead of a thin rod with a lot wood. The woodless pencils are more versatile since I can use the entire side of the pencil for drawing. They are more fragile than regular pencils so you should take that into consideration, but I haven't had much trouble with them breaking, and when they did break I could usually still utilize the broken pieces. The color results have been satisfactory, and the pencils respond very well. These are my go-to pencils for drawing with color.

If you're just getting started with coloured pencils, this is a great set to buy. These pencils are definitely not the best you can buy, but they're great for just starting out. Even though I've been using coloured pencils for years now I still enjoy using these for casual colouring and sketching. I would even recommend these pencils for children as well, since they're fairly inexpensive. It depends entirely on how well your kid takes care of their things, but I would say these pencils would be great for a middle school aged child or older.

These pencils are woodless, which means they have no wood casing. They have a coloured lacquer on the barrel to prevent colour from getting on your hands. The colours are vibrant, and the pencil is not too soft or too hard. These pencils are not as soft as Prismacolor but they aren't as hard as other cheaper brands like Crayola. They're blendable, but they don't blend as effortlessly as Prismas. The sharpen nicely too. These pencils also last quite awhile since they have no wood casing.

Other reviewers have mentioned that these are easily breakable, but I disagree. I have not broken a single one of these pencils, and I've had them for 4 years. One of them was already broken when I bought them, and other than that one pencil they are all still intact. That being said, these pencils should be handled with care. Dropping them on tile, wood flooring, or any other hard surface can break them. This is true of any coloured pencil. If you drop one of these, it might break. If you drop a regular coloured pencil with wood casing, the lead inside might break and made it difficult to sharpen. If one of your pencils arrives broken, or you break one, it's really no big deal. You can still use the broken piece easily with a pencil extender.

I love these colored pencils so much that I hate to use them because they are so pretty but I do use them and love them. Deep rich color and sharpen easily

I am a studio art major and I use these color pencils. They are very rich in color and smooth. The reason they are fragile is because it is entirely graphite so you must be careful when applying pressure to your drawing or else the pencil will snap. But not to worry, you can always sharpen the other half.

The pencil lasts long because it is entirely graphite. You only need to sharpen to remove the thin plastic casing around the graphite or if you need a point.

If you love colored pencil drawings and what something that will last you a while, then these are a great buy. My art teacher was very set on buying prismacolor (which is great quality too) but my classmates were running through their colored pencils easily. All of our drawing came out equally as beautiful, rich and saturated. So go ahead and get them!

This color pencils are more for children. It has great qualities of graphite and colors but it is very fragile. I used prismacolor, faber castle, crayola etc. before but for smoothness, blending and grading color quality, Koh-I-Noor is the best. However, due to the poor packaging I received 3 of the colored pencils are broken. I believe to avoid high return, Koh-I-Noor need to fix the packaging system. It is so sad to know the fact with the high returns that these items will go to salvage.... As an artist, this breaks my heart because the products are excellent quality but due to poor packaging it will have high return. I will also suggest amazon to pay attention on the delivery system. I received this item in just a brown bubble enveloped without extra bubble wraps on the material. I believe with a better packaging this item will have less return.....
STILL FOR the QUALITY OF COLOR PENCILS I GIVE 5 stars.
BUT FOR the PACKAGING I GIVE of 2 STARS.

Smooth, saturated color. I discovered these in Disney World at Hollywood Studios, when a Disney Artist was using them. He had some out we could use to color with too. I ordered them on the spot. Love these!
