5.0 out of 5 stars the Just Community Theory
This book is a review of the implementation of Kohlberg's six stages of moral development and his desire to put theory into practice. The reader learns about Kohlberg's journey from a theoretical idea of the six stages to a practical usage of the idea. A new concept emerged and that is the theory of the just community. In a just community, students and teachers are...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought it would be
I bought this book in hopes of getting an overview of Kohlberg's Moral Development theory. While there is a brief discussion about his initial work and theoretical basis, this book lacks content in this area. The majoity of the text explores the ways in which Kohlberg and his collegues designed a Moral Education program in a school. If this information is of interest...

5.0 out of 5 stars the Just Community Theory, May 9, 2005

This book is a review of the implementation of Kohlberg's six stages of moral development and his desire to put theory into practice. The reader learns about Kohlberg's journey from a theoretical idea of the six stages to a practical usage of the idea. A new concept emerged and that is the theory of the just community. In a just community, students and teachers are equals and they use the forum of school to discuss real-life moral dilemmas in order to further the students' moral reasoning.

The book itself focuses on the implementations (as done by Kohlberg and his colleagues). The other important thing to keep in mind about this book is that it is practically the only place, in print, where the reader can find information about the just community directly from Kohlberg's words.
