Shame on Kohler for engineering such a illogical way of attaching a toilet seat: a metal Molly inserted in to porcelain (no bottom bolt)?!! I happily started to remove the bolts holding down the seat and discovered there were no bottom nuts. One bolt finally agreed to back out after a lot of liquid wrench. The other bolt just kept going round and round. I finally had to pry out the metal Molly, and then started researching where to find a Molly to insert into glass. My plumber just throw up his hands and said "buy a Toto."
Shame on on Kolher for having so little respect for their unsuspecting customers. They make us suffer and sweat, then rob us; $20.00 a Molly.

I took off my old Kohler (Rialto) seat and thought I could replace it no problem, like I've done in other instances. Then I spent money on wooden seats twice that did not fit, because I could not get or find a seat for a one piece toilet. I finally ordered the seat from Kohler and thought it would fit, because it said, "for a one piece toilet" and it was the Kohler color. I was disappointed to find the new seat also could not go on. I called the company and they told me $47.oo for an anchor kit to attach any seat. I ordered it for $35, from Amazon plus shipping. Then I could not wait, so I looked at the kit and identified what pieces I really needed. I took the picture with me to Lowes and found anchors and screws. I placed a plastic anchor in the bowl hinge hole and then screwed in the nail and secured the seat for $5.00! I bought a pack of 3 screws and 3 green plastic anchors that you don't see under the black fastener and the toilet seat anchor/screw/hinge cover. I see they have them also on Home Depot's site.

I won't pay Kohler another $46.00 after buying an over-priced seat, just because no one else had a seat in Innocent Blush. When my anchor kit arrives, I plan to return it. I'm not good at returning things and the fix is not perfect, but the seat is tighter than with the other fatter nails I had in for the previous seat that were longer, but could not be fastened with the nuts with wings. It's plenty secure. I can't see the kit costing $47.oo dollars for a little tighter fit. What a rip off. Trust me. You'll be happy with anchors with shoulders with big long screws. Amazon has some too.

This product is a ripoff. Two of us spent more than two hours trying to remove the spinning bolt without success. The Kohler tool simply does not work--does not secure the anchor so the bolt can be removed. Also, since the anchor is under the seat hinge, you cannot see it to make sure that the tool is placed properly--we just had to move it around and guess it was in position. I will have to either try drilling out the bolt or cutting it with hacksaw, and potentially damaging the porcelain. I don't feel comfortable doing either. If I could give this product zero stars, I would.

This is a case of terrible engineering by Kohler (creating a one-piece toilet with an inaccessible seat bolt and anchor, and then engineering a removal tool that does not work). This is a problem Kohler is well aware of, based on all the internet comments by other customers, yet the company continues to manufacture these one piece toilets with bolts that are inaccessible for removal.

The kit was not worth the price. First, I had already gotten the bolts out of the toilet but damaged them and the expansion nuts, to which they were secured in doing so. So, I didn't need the "tools" that were supposed to help with that process. Second, I was expecting the kit to include basically the same thing that was in the toilet to which the seat was attached, a brass nut encased in a rubber sleeve. It did not. The "fix" was a plastic anchor that expanded to fill the hole in the toilet when the seat was screwed in.
There was limited change in resistance when I was screwing in the plastic anchor so I ended up overtightening it to the point I damaged it and couldn't use it.

I ended up at Home Depot getting Crown Bolt Brass 1/4 in.-20 x 5/8 in. Expansion Nuts that seems to have fixed the problem. However, in hindsight, I would have preferred an expansion nut that was a little bigger in diameter and longer than 5/8". Didn't find anything bigger at the Home Depot when there and I just wanted to get this done so bought them.

Kohler's kit should have at least included the same parts for securing toilet seats as was in the toilet originally. A brass nut encased in a rubber sleeve.

The product worked as advertised. I had both the spinning bolt and the worthless, stuck spinning anchor.

I found the instructions to be very clear.

I removed the spinning bolt before I ordered this product. It came up enough for me to cut off the head with a hacksaw and push the stem through the anchor. I can't speak to the tool included in the kit that is supposed to hold the anchor in place while you remove the bolt. Removing the bolt took me about 10-15 minutes of hacking with the saw.

I removed the stuck, spinning anchor with a 5/16 drill bit (instructions said 11/32 but I had to do with what I had) -- came out without a problem. Inserting the new anchors was very easy with the tools provided. You need a socket wrench. Removing the old anchor took 1 minute and inserting the new anchors took less than 10 minutes.

The anchors and new bolts work fine and I am back on a toilet seat again...

So the product gets 5 stars. The price gets 1 star. I am fine with there being no access underneath because it adds to the beauty of the toilet, but this measly kit shouldn't cost more than $5-10; I am sure it costs Kohler less than $3. I searched the Internet for a deal on this and Amazon's price was the best and I got free shipping (my price was $34.99 plus free shipping).

Where Kohler got a double-profit was that I had to pay them another $12 for their toilet seat plastic snap anchors which I needed to cut off and throw out when I took of the bolts. In fact, these pieces of plastic took longer to cut off than the screws.

I have Kohler throughout my house but will look at another brand in the future. They should frankly give these things away given what we pay for their higher-end products.
