Editorial Reviews

Season Four cases involve the kidnapping of Kojak’s niece, the search for The Grim Reaper serial killer, a body found in the trunk of a Rolls-Royce, a vengeful nun, a diplomat molester and a murderous wife. Like no one else, Kojak cuts through the depths of the criminal mind and solves cases with unparalleled guts and determination. Created by Emmy and Academy Award winning writer Abby Mann, Kojak ran for five seasons on CBS from 1973 to 1978 and spawned a series of TV movies throughout the ’80s and ’90s.

5.0 out of 5 stars "CROCKER! MAKE A NOTE!!" April 3, 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
And with only one more season to go, once again Kojak offers the same bold authenticity and urban edge to intelligent plots and although a bit dated, holds up extremely well - you don't have to wonder if Telly Savalas with his no nonsense bravado and gritty demeanor is going to apprehend some of televisions toughest criminals - it's just a matter of when!

This six disc set will contain 25 classic and action packed episodes with excellent picture quality.

Special guest stars will include:
Richard Gere, David Selby, Lynn Redgrave, Morgan Fairchild, Brian Dennehy, Christopher Walken, Joan Van Ark, Sharon Gless and many more.

The episode list will include:
1. BIRTHDAY PARTY - Kojak works against time to locate desperate criminals who have kidnapped his niece to force him to release one of their accomplices.
2. A SUMMER MADNESS - A mysterious bomber kills innocent victims by tossing a molotov cocktail through the window of a Manhattan restaurant.
3. LAW DANCE - Kojak and Crocker have difficulty in the courts when a new trail for a convict murderer threatens to set him free.
4. OUT OF THE SHADOWS - Kojak and his men arrest a psychotic killer who has been terrorizing Manhattan with a series of seemingly indescriminate murders, but his confession takes a bizzare turn.
5. A NEED TO KNOW - A child molester is arrested, but Kojak is ordered to release him because he works for a foreign embassy and has diplomatic immunity.
6. AN UNFAIR TRADE - Two patrol cops are caught in the backlash of an angry neighborhood when one of the cops is forced to kill a Hispanic youth during a struggle.
7. A HAIR-TRIGGER AWAY - A heroin addict tries to kick her habit with the aid of her boyfriend, Lt. Giddings, whose status is jeopardized after he accidently kills another policeman during a drug bust.
8. BY SILENCE BETRAYED - Kojak's investigation into the killing of several dock workers is complicated by the dock worker's code of silence.
9. A SHIELD FOR MURDER (PARTS 1 & 2) - A wealthy, power-wielding New York State County Chairman uses her influence to protect her grandson.
10. THE PRIDE AND THE PRINCESS - A Yugoslavian princess hunts for priceless family jewels stolen at the end of World War II and now hidden in New York City.
11. BLACK THORN - Salathiel Harms (Rosey Grier) returns as a bounty hunter who is after a desperate man who jumped bail in San Francisco.
12. WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN YOU HAVE NO WHERE TO GO? - A hot-tempered Indian accidently kills a construction boss and finds a fortune in stolen diamonds.
13. DEAD AGAIN - Kojak links the threats against a young girl's life and a bomber's extortion demands.
14. THE GODSON - Kojak's 17-year-old godson, who hasn't seen Theo for more than 10 years, is in for a lot of trouble with criminals and the law.
15. THE CONDEMNED - After he discovers his unfaithful wife murdered, a prizefighter goes berserk and holds innocent victims hostage in a church.
16. WHEN YOU HEAR THE BEEP, DROP DEAD - A wealthy ecologist's wife plans to do away with her husband and frame a non-existent call girl for the murder.
17. I WAS HAPPY WHERE I WAS - Kojak tries to head off a bario gang war when he investigates a street murder.
18. KOJAK'S DAYS (PART 1) - An unidentified corpse in a stolen Rolls-Royce is found the same morning a wife kills her husband and abandons her child, leaving a trail she indicates will lead to her suicide.
19. KOJAK'S DAYS (PART 2) - More facts come to light regarding the unidentified body stuffed in the trunk of a Rolls-Royce, and more frustration with the attempts to locate the woman bent on suicide.
20. MONKEY ON A STRING - A member of the police force falls prey to a powerful crime figure.
21. KISS IT ALL GOODBYE - Alerted to a fur robbery in a double-cross by one of the thieves, Crocker inadvertantly shoots a young woman, crippling her for life.
22. LADY IN THE SQUAD ROOM - Kojak is 'not' happy when a lady cop is assigned to his division - and neither is she!
23. SISTER MARIA - A nun has a strong sense of revenge against a powerful airline executive who she thinks is responsible for her sister's death.
24. ANOTHER GYPSY QUEEN - A gypsy queen plays both ends against the middle in attempting to locate a man she thinks is responsible for killing gypsies.

Closed captioning is not included and there are no bonus features. Thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining show. "MEOW BABY"

5.0 out of 5 stars Sad it will end... May 18, 2012

This is a winter in New York season. Great idea. Very authentic. Plus, all those young actors: Richard Gere, William Hurt, and so on. What can I say when a TV show is better than movies?

From the opening episode, I already knew that Kojak still was the man. Because when you kidnap the niece of the best detective in NYC at that time, expect Kojak to take no prisoners. I mean no matter how you try to rattle this character, IT JUST DOESN'T WORK!!! So there you have it, short and sweet. The quality is outstanding, considering how old this series is. From the appearances of Richard Gere to Christopher Walken, you will not be disappointed by Season 4. After all, who else could win the Golden Globe nearly every season this show was on the air? Exactly! So stop reading this review and hurry up and buy the DVD. Then after you see for yourself, just think "Who loves ya, baby?!!"
