NOT UNIVERSAL!!,
By monnieb "monnieb" (Pittsburgh, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kolcraft Universal 2 Infant Car Seat Carrier (Baby Product)
I purchased this carrier only to find out that is is NOT compatible with my Chicco KeyFit 30 car seat. The seat is not secure even when belted in. Here is the list, from the manual, of the ONLY seats that this carrier is compatible with. So much for universal! It would have been helpful to have this information included in the product description, so that I did not have to waste my time!
Britax: Companion, Handle with Care Century: Avanta Series, Vante 5 Combi: Connection, Tyro Cosco: Arriva Series, Designer, Eddie Bauer Caress, Eddie Bauer Opus 35, First Ride DX, Turn-A-Bout Evenflo: Cozy Carry, Discovery, On-My-Way, Portabout Graco: Safe Seat, Snug Ride Series Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP Safety 1st: Designer 22, Starter

DO NOT USE WITH CERTAIN CAR SEATS!,

Although some reviewers indicated that this carrier worked with Chicco car seats, it does not. Indeed, when I opened the instruction book, here is what it states: "DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING CAR SEATS IN THIS CARRIER! This list is not inclusive: Baby Trend Latch-Loc, Baby Trend Flex-Loc, Britax Baby Safe, Century 535/5802/590 Series, Century Assura Series, Century Smart Fit Series, Chicco Key Fit, Cosco Dream Ride, Fisher Price Stay in View, Evenflo Embrace, All Gerry Infant Car Seats, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio, Kolcraft Infant Rider, Kolcraft Secura."
Obviously, if you use any of these car seats, you should avoid this product and, unlike me, won't be burden with the time and trouble of returning the unit.

This is the best car seat carrier on the market!,

I have had the Baby Trend Snap n Go, the Maclaren Easy Traveller, and the Kolcraft Universal. The Kolcraft is the best!!!!!!! It has a huge and easily accessible storage basket and easy one hand folding. The suspended tray beneath the car seat gives a much more secure feeling. But most importantly, the Kolcraft has front wheel suspension which allows for a smooth ride. LOVE IT!!!!

I purchased the Kolcraft Universal Stroller to work with my Graco Snugride.
Unfortunately, the Snugride is unable to actually snap into the stroller. The Snugride simply rests on top of the "front bar" and you use a strap to strap the stroller to the frame....not a very secure feeling.

Universal and safety,

I looked into all the car seat carriers and spoke with two friends that tried at least two types out. The kolcraft is the easy winner. I have a Graco car seat, the car seat doesn't actually snap in but my friend showed me how to adjust the carrier so the base of the car seat rests on it nice and snug. and of course there is the red belt that MUST be used everytime. In general I am very concerned about safety and I am happy to say that even though the car seat doesn't actually snap in place I am not worried that something might happen.

I love this carrier because it works well with the Chicco infant car seat. It also has a roomy basket underneath for groceries, shopping bags, diaper bag, etc. We kept this in our car trunk for trips to the mall and store, and it worked perfectly. It fits easily into the trunk and the one-hand fold is awesome.

I have used both Chicco and Peg Perego and it works!,

This is a MUST have for any mom - I have 2 toddlers that I have to drop off at preschool so whipping this thing out of the car to get the newborn in safely is the most efficient thing I have found yet. We used it with the Chicco Key Fit and now we are using it with the Peg Perego Viaggio SIP 30 30 and we love it - it does not snap in but fits so snugly with a red belt that you can adjust to tighten the carseat in there - we looked at the baby trend and thought for sure we'd get that one because of all of the reviews with the Peg Perego but went to Babys R Us to try it and HATED it! There is NO way its safe for the Peg Perego that is suppose to just simply "rest" on a gray clip! The Kolcraft has a tray underneath it in case for some reason your carseat falls through but since its wedged in there I doubt thats even possible. So my advice - if you have either carseat I have mentioned - buy this one - you will not regret it!

Very convenient and easy to use,

After much research between the Kolcraft, Graco and Snap and Go, I decided to go with the Kolcraft and am (so far) very happy with my decision. The infant car seat that I have is the Graco Snugride 32.
SEAT ATTACHMENT: I must say that after reading several reviews, I was concerned about the seat not clicking onto the frame. The other reviews were correct that the seat doesn't snap on, however I installed the seat as noted on the instructions and fastened the belt. Before actually taking the stroller outside, I weighted the seat and took the stroller on a test run to ease my mind a bit. I turned the stroller on its side, made sharp turns, etc...the seat stayed in place, which made me feel comfortable that it would be safe for my daughter. I won't go jogging or steer the stroller haphazardly though, but for leisurely walks, I'm comfortable that the stroller is safe. The faults noted in the reviews of the other two strollers I was considering (i.e. wheels falling off, etc) seem much more risk to me. BASKET: I LOVE the size of the basket!! I'm able to fit my fully packed diaper bag and several shopping bags as well. There are also two little mesh pockets within the basket that are nice for hand sanitizer or a water bottle. PARENT TRAY: Very convenient to have, but the cup holders are too shallow to really hold a drink...nice to put your phone in though. FOLDING & WEIGHT: Very light-weight and completely a one handed fold. Super fast and easy to fold and unfold. The easy folding is probably my favorite feature of the stroller. MANEUVERABILITY: Very easy to maneuver when not loaded. Still pretty easy to maneuver with the baby and bags, but not as easy as a Bugaboo.

Thought we were done having children, so we gave away a couple strollers during out last move from Houston.
Well, our fifth child came along and we had to scramble. Still had the Evenflo carseat, but no stroller to put it in. Our kids fall asleep in the carseat so readily, we had no desire to ever wake them up while transferring from carseat to stroller. It's so nice to just unhook the carseat and plop into a stroller, be on your way, baby still blissfully asleep. That is exactly what this stroller/carrier allows you to do. It has been perfect. And the one-handed mechanism to fold it down is smooth. Very easy to use. Wheels and bearings don't seem cheap like on so many lower-end strollers. Foam padding on handlebar is extra thick and cushy. Just love it.

Misleading product info?,
By
This review is from: Kolcraft Universal 2 Infant Car Seat Carrier (Baby Product)
I have a Peg Perego car seat but it doesn't fit properly. It says that Peg Perego is compatible with the stroller in the product info, but on the actual manual it says Peg Perego is not compatible. Anybody has that problem? This is so maddening.
Two days later...I called Kolcraft customer service and figured out how my Peg Perego car seat (SIP version) can fit on the stroller. It seems quite safe with the use of restraint strap. Just wish the manual can be a little less confusing. |
