This review is from: Mortal Kombat Kollection (Deception, Armageddon, Shaolin Monks) (Video Game)
Armageddon is my favorite since it has a huge list of characters. Also, it has a fun part called 'Motor Kombat' which is basically like Mario Kart, and another part where you can go out and play on your own (I don't remember what that part is called) so it's like getting several games in one. I haven't played Deception very much and I haven't played Shaolin Monks at all, I mostly bought the set for Armageddon since it was a good deal. What I have played, I've really liked. I recommend it to anyone. I actually bought the games for my boyfriend but I've ended up playing them a lot, too, so I think they're good for almost anyone.

For my mother in law. She loves fighting games and is normally a Tekken player. This was her introduction to the world of Mortal Combat. She has successfully been converted.

First off: This pack sells for between $10-$15 at Target & they have lots of copies by where we live so try getting it there first.
MK Deception: This is kind of like a role playing game. You walk around on a map & interact with people & collect coins (different material type coins) trying to complete the story mode which is a good but 'often used' story type. In addition to the story mode, there are a lot of side quests you do for people which is mainly just finding stuff or people they've lost. You can attack people in the map mode but you can't defend yourself which is frustrating. I find it very easy to get lost in this map mode b/c all the cities look the same and the people are very familiar looking so once you find stuff for the side quests, it will take a lot of time finding who asked for the stuff/job. The training mode is pretty cool. The characters you fight give somewhat a dialog then it puts you in the "MK Arcade style" fighting mode to fight & defeat them to get to the next part of your story. Along the way you also meet random MK characters that challenge you, however, most of the time they give you a handicap (your life drains away while fighting while theirs doesn't, or they have the ability to heal in a quick pace while fighting while you don't, you can only drain their energy doing a certain attack type (i.e. throws), etc.) which sometimes is very difficult. Also, your map character is just a rookie kid but when you fight people on your Konquest, you end up taking the identity of the most recent MK character that trained you (I don't know if you can choose who you fight with yet). This game is fun at first but gets old & frustrating quick so be ready to jump to the next game pretty quick. Rating: 3 out of 5. MK Shaolin Monks: This game is very fun but very easy (until the last boss). It is very much like God of War in fun factor (but GOW has an excellent story while this one has a very good story). Graphics are great but the game is linear to the point where sometimes you can't tell where you have to go. You'll get through the game quick but you can get through with a 56% completion stat so you'll have to replay to search for stuff you missed (which I'm usually not motivated enough to do, for video games... once I'm done, I'm DONE!). Rating: 3.5 to 4 out of 5. GOW I and II are 5's & while this game is very fun, I can't put it too close to them b/c they're off the charts. MK Armageddon: Haven't gotten to this one yet as I just finished Shaolin Monks but I did do a YouTube video search to find that this looks to be a combination of Deception (you have the MK Arcaded style duels) and Shaolin Monks (you fight in the 'map world' kind also but with the ability to defend yourself).
