3.0 out of 5 stars Kyser historian says 'Just OK' collection, but liner notes wrong (as usual)
This collection from a British label, Living Era, has the requisite hits (see track listing above), but as usual in Kyser's case, the liner notes are full of mistakes. They have Ginny Simms joining in 1938 when it was 1934, says Kyser's name was James Kay Kyser, when it was James Kern Kyser- He adopted his middle initial as a stage name because it sounded...

This collection from a British label, Living Era, has the requisite hits (see track listing above), but as usual in Kyser's case, the liner notes are full of mistakes. They have Ginny Simms joining in 1938 when it was 1934, says Kyser's name was James Kay Kyser, when it was James Kern Kyser- He adopted his middle initial as a stage name because it sounded snappier. There's only one song w/ Ish Kabibble (Kyser recorded dozens featuring the comic/ trumpetist). Paul Roth, who wrote the liner notes, has Kyser disbanding in 1952, it was 1950. Really, I'm getting very tired of these lazy writers who don't take time to get their facts right. I'm sure there are more mistakes, but why frustrate myself! For the real facts go to kaykyser.net (not .com)
