4.0 out of 5 stars Kollon was a surprise., January 20, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kollon Asian Version Sony PSP Game (Video Game)
I love imported games. I own games that I honestly can't play, just because of the amount of text in them (Dragon Quest IV for the Famicom comes to mind) or that they're games to which I have absolutely no clue of the rules (like Mahjongg). But that said, I love puzzle games too, and those usually are easy enough to figure out.

Kollon, while it's no Tetris or Lumines, is a sturdy puzzle import for people looking for a game to kill a few hours.

The point of the game is to combine, similar to the Puyo Puyo series, four blocks of the same color and eliminate them from the play field, which is constantly filling back up from the bottom. If your chains of blocks are disappearing in rapid succession, and you're playing against another player (if you're like me, and no one else HAS this game, then the CPU opponent), it'll manipulate their screen by either filling up with empty, "blank" blocks, or molding together existing, touching blocks of the same color, dumping MASSIVE bricks, or even adjusting the size or abilities of your own curser (which is used to move blocks around for elimination).

This is a fun game, sure. It's easy to pick up (even in this imported version) and figure out the simple menus, and when you actually get into the game it's a blast. As someone who doesn't speak or read Japanese (you'd think I'd pick some up by now lol), it's a fun game with a few annoying issues due to the language. But like I've said, I love puzzle games, and this was definately a worthwhile pick-up.

(This game as also been released in the US as "Ultimate Block Party.")
