undeniable classic,

Brilliantly beautiful. Catch up on what you're missing out on! Simply bass and drums make up for such wonderful arrangements that show just what you can get when you really try for something. Guitar? Humbug! save for two tracks, "She's Acting" and "Don't Try So Hard" which add to the combo. From the opening title-track to stunningly cool singles "You Will Know" and "Any Sense Of Time" it's clear this is one album you'll be glad you didn't pass up. Probably most affluently stunning is the trio of ending tracks "Cruise Control", though not really part of the next pair of songs it provides the airborne theme with it's title, which then launches into the hauntingly beautiful instrumental of "Last Flight". Then you're carried away, into the air if you will, to the upbeat, yet somehow romantically sad "Amelia Earhart". The first time I listened to the album i sat for almost 10 minutes after it ended just to absorb the closing pair. For those wanting to know more about the band, whom unfortunately broke-up after releasing their last album "Winning Hearts" (no, I sadly never got to see them either), can check out their official site(see more *about me* I'm not allowed to insert URL's!) which is still run by Dave himself! He's real nice if you e-mail him. I don't know why Amazon doesn't have information on their other wonderful releases (lps and singles) which include 3 albums.. 1993's "Hilario" - 1996's "It's Sydney Or The Bush" and the final 1998's "Winning Hearts". Mike also released two demo tapes and, a solo album earlier this year called "What Happens Now?" on Halifax, Nova Scotia's Perimiter Records. Worth seeking for he is one greatly talented songwriter!!

An Amazing Album,
This review is from: Kombinator (Audio CD)
I actually found this CD in a box of CD's at my mothers office (She is the faculty adviser for a college newspaper, so I assume it was a "screener") very soon after it came out. And I Have loved this album ever since. It's brilliant. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys original music. It's amazing that there are others who feel the same, I just saw the four reviews posted here, and felt moved to add to the recommendations. I know nothing about this band at all, but I am an enormous fan of this album.

Kombinator has been one of my favorite albums ever since I was walking down the street in Chicago and saw The Inbreds playing on the sidewalk. I skipped my classes and watched them until the started packing up. WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? If ANYONE knows if they are still together or if there is somewhere to get other albums of theirs, please let me know!
