Outstanding tour of Minoan Kommos and a Day In the Life of an Archaeologist,
By
This review is from: Kommos: A Minoan Harbor Town and Greek Sanctuary in Southern Crete (Hardcover)
I read this book after a recent trip to Crete where I peered in through the fenced off site of Kommos at the Great Minoan architecture below. This book is wonderful for several reasons: - It provides excellent detail of methodology as well as finds during the Kommos excavations - Shaw is gracious and humble in acknowledging the extraordinary team of people who worked and financed the excavation, which also reveals the details and hard work that go into an excavation of this magnitude - It fills the reader with excitement about Kommos, its finds and provides a broader context of meaning for the Minoan civilization - Beautiful photographs |
