I was so thrilled when I found Krupuk on Amazon of all places. I have a friend who used to drive to L.A. (from San Diego) to get ingredients for a lavish Indonesian meal he would cook. I especially liked the Krupuk but was not going to drive 3 hours to get it. This is the same brand he used and it is so good. I must disagree with the review that said to microwave them because the oil adds to much fat. I fry mine and put on paper towels. The paper towels have very little oil on them when finished and most of the oil in the pan is still there. As for the fishy taste, well they are shrimp.

These are my second-favorite brand of shrimp chips I've tried from Amazon. They fry up large - 6x8"? - and are a bit sturdier than the Giant Crab chips I reviewed, before. Denser. A decent flavor, although not quite as "shrimpy" as I like them. I would definitely buy them again if I couldn't get the Giant Crab ones, and I can see where others may like them better! They need the hour's rest, as well, after they are fried - NOT just to cool, but because magic happens and improves the flavor and texture exponentially in that hour! The "Golden Hour", redefined...? 😜 Try them! The price is good, and they don't charge you extra shipping if you buy two packets. Yay!

I have an Indonesian mother and have eaten tons of these things over the years. In fact, I've eaten quite a few of this particular brand. You will probably pay a bit more for these on Amazon, if you don't have an Asian market nearby or some other local means to pick this up, this a great way to sample these.

There are a couple of ways I've seen these sold. Sometimes they are sold ready to eat in a bag. These need to be fried up first, and I have to say this is the way to go. You end up with a much tastier product that you can eat in a much fresher state. They do have a faint shrimp taste, but it is not overbearing.

And try drizzling some sweet soy sauce on these as well: ABC Indonesian Sweet Soy Sauce. A truly delicious and affordable way to get a taste of Indonesian food!

I was first introduced to krupuk about 20 years ago by a couple who had lived most of their lives in Singapore. I was happy to find Komodo Krupuk Udang available through Amazon.com and ordered some to test it for quality and taste. I found it to be of the highest quality and having a delicate and delicious taste.

These are just like the bagged ones but warm and cooked up fresh. My only quam is that on a few of the chips the edges stay hard and that these aren't multi-colored. Other than that I give it a B++

Havent had Kurpuk in forever. I lived in Indonesia as a child and we had this all the time w/ Satay.

This particular product is excellent and very easy to prepare. Simply fill a wok w/ vegetable oil bring it the oil up to 300F or so (don't let it smoke). My wok is big enough for 2 or 3 at a time. they cook really fast. Once it expands out (about 4" in diameter) flip it over and give it a few more seconds. They'll get sort of a dull brown - pull them. I'm used to them being either bright pink or yellow. oh well.

Oh - the instructions on the back make for entertaining reading.

No go make peanut sauce.

This item can be confusing to find and buy. "Prawn Chips". Price was decent. Can't remember how fast shipping was. Gotta' break them up a bit before you cook them or they get HUGE!! If done right they are quite good.

If you think you're buying uncooked shrimp chips, think again. You do fry them up yourself, but they taste sugary (ugh) and not at all like shrimp or shrimp chips. I won't buy them again.
