Product Description

MINIMALIST RUNNING / BAREFOOT RUNNING The typical human foot is an anatomical masterpiece of evolution with 26 bones, 33 joints, 20 muscles, and hundreds of sensory receptors, tendons and ligaments. To keep our feet healthy, like the rest of our bodies, they need to be stimulated and exercised regularly. Many experts believe the shoes we wear not only cast the foot in a protective form, but can also weaken our foot and leg muscles, leaving them underdeveloped and more susceptible to injury. And while there are many occasions where traditional footwear is essential for protection, safety, and security, it is equally important to stimulate and exercise our feet in a more natural state on a regular basis. To stimulate the muscles in your feet and lower legs, which in turn can make stronger, healthier and improve your balance then the Vibram Fivefingers could help you achieve this. Use them for training, running and many other activities to see the benfits! The Komodo Sport is has an aggressive multisport design which inherits the bext of the FiveFingers KSO but with functional improvements to appeal to the most active fitness enthusiast.

The best advice I can give is to go to the store and try these on. Even if you measure your feet, the shoes will still fit differently and varies by design. I went to the store and they first measured my foot. They said I needed a 39 (normally, I am a size 7, with an average to narrow width). Before going to the store, I read on the Vibram website about the various styles. From the site, I had narrowed it down to the Sprint. I was looking for the most versatile shoe, which as described on the site, it fit. I am 35 years old female, average weight, and have diagnosed degenerative disc disease in my back, aka - lower back pain. Any kind of shoe with a heel, kills my back after a very short while. I am traditionally a Crocs, Uggs, and Birkenstocks, kind of girl. I only wear what is comfortable.

At the store, I tried on the Sprint, size 39. They seemed a little snug in the toe, but the sales person that is how they are supposed to fit, little snug, but not tight. They seemed comfortable enough and not knowing what they were supposed to feel like, I bought them. I went home and then went for a 20 minute, slow-average walk. I am not an athelete by any stretch of the imagination, but I wanted to break them in a little. About half way into the walk, I started to feel some pain in the bottom of the heel of my foot and on the bottom of my big toe. Of course, I was 10 minutes from home, so it took another 10 to get back. These blisters were at the bottom of my foot, not the backs or sides, where blisters normally occur on new shoes. By the time I got home, I had large (2 inches) on the bottom of both of my heels and 1/2 inch on each big toe. It hurt so much to walk! Plus, my toe area got tighter as I walked, going from a little snug to tight.

From the minute you slide these shoes on it is sheer bliss. I had purchased the classic style of Vibram Five Fingers for women and loved the feel. Somehow these are even more amazing! I have never felt like I have had such strong support from such a light weight shoe. I will probably never run, walk, lift, etc... with regular tennis shoes again. Your foot does not slide forward while holding difficult positions, lack the right amount of arch,etc... Also, these shoes are constructed of such high quality products that you can't go wrong. This is not the first pair I have bought nor will they be the last! Treat your feet to greatness!

Yes, these shoes do qualify as sports shoes. They are incredibly comfortable, and I didn't take them off for hours after I put them on. I literally felt as if I were wearing sock shoes. The rubber tip toe protection is great and the sole has amazing grips, so these would be the ideal beach running shoes and grocery shopping shoes etc. However, since regular socks do not work with these, my feet got wet as soon as they touched moisture, and being cold in these is no fun. As long as the surrounding environment is dry, these shoes are wonderful. If you live in a place that is ever wet, I would rethink purchasing these shoes as everyday go-tos and go with some that aren't as water soluble. Vibram is an amazing product line, however, customers must be as specific as the shoes they are ordering are.

I own a number of barefoot shoes and each one is better than another for one specific thing.

The KomodoSport is my favorite for running on pavement. the tread on the bottom is circular which makes it best for pivoting and sprinting, but it is NOT the best for traction on something slick like a wet rock. I have slipped in these on a slick grocery store floor. I like them best though for fit because they are stretchier than the bikila and the trek but they don't loose their elasticity.

They're very similar to the KSOs i think however the KSOs are SOOOO hard to get over my arches. It's a good alternative if you've had this problem too.

They don't dry very quickly and sand can get in them pretty easily but they clean off well in the washing machine.

I wear mine for an hour run every day and often during the entire day for work/errands, they are still very bright and colorful.

Caution, they will smell. Try stuffing newspaper in them to help them dry out quicker so they don't smell like mildew.
I use the sports balls for your shoes and it works perfectly against odor.

If you are looking for something easy to slip on, try the classic, don't buy this shoe.
If you are looking for a VFF for trail running or for slicker surfaces, running on ice during the winter: get the trek.
If you want something low profile which people won't notice, go for Merrell gloves - I prefer VFF to Merrell because Merrell has always given me blisters when I run.

I bought these at a BOGO sale locally. I bought this pair, a Bikila, a KomondoSport LS, a Jaya, and a TrekSport(see my other reviews on those).

This shoe is sized accurately to width and length. I wear a solid 41 in EU size(look on the tounge of your favorite athletic shoe in the EU section for this number). The ankle portion on this shoe seems to sit lower than my others, and I happen to have skinny feet, so this model fits very loosely material wise around my ankle. However, the 2 straps surrounding the opening allow me to tighten them so that they fit snugly.

I like the tread on this shoe. It is a good, solid all terrain design.
I like the removable insoles with a bit extra cushion(this makes it a good beginner Vibram minimalist shoe).
I like the colors & the mesh ports here & there for breath ability.
Dual Velcro adjustment tabs to dial in fit.

They could be hot as they have a heavier material on the uppers.
    Loose collar material(my skinny feet).
A bit more sole to them.

These would be your true cross trainer/everything type shoe. If you are looking for a good first pair of "barefoot" shoes to try, these would be the ones. Running, jumping, walking, hiking, lifting, cross fit, p90x, indoors, outdoors, etc.
Out of the 5 pairs of VFFs I have, these are my second favorite(first is the LS model of these, as the ankle material isn't an issue since it has lace cords with a tounge as opposed to this model with a solid ankle opening that clinches closer by way of strapping.

A note on fitting the odd toes....
I have a second toe that is longer than my first, by alot actually. In every other shoe I own, this causes me to need to size up a half size in US(so one number in EU).
