The Kona K2 guitar is really a great guitar, The sound of it is simply outstanding for its price. I would have paied more for this guitar. although it does have its defects, but its nothing that can't be fixed.

The Good: Great price!
-Sound is "well rounded" not to bassy and not light at all, fills up my living room.
-The finish is what really blows its competition "at this price range" out of the water. Its high gloss finish with the binding all around really makes it look great.
-It comes with two pick guards; a black one and a red marble one. I went with the red marble.
-Has a fully fuctional truss rod(which will most likely need adjusting).
-Electronic pickup and EQ work well, It really makes the guitar sound loud and clean.
-It comes with strap mounts which is not noted on the description but should. "No strap Included"
-The Neck is thin but not to thin really just right.

The Bad: The guitar out of the box had some horible buzzing. It would buzz when I pushed down on the 14th fret it wound not resonate at all on the A,D,G strings and open low E would buzz.
-the binding on the neck looks yellowish and is "rough cut" its not sanded smooth(I left this be since it does not affect its performance and really it is hard to notice.)
-The die cast gold tuners looked used on the guitar I recived, nothing to make me want to send it back though.

THE FIX: To fix the low e buzz i adjusted the truss rod, no more buzz.
-the 14th fret fix was more work,(If you are not good with wood working or metal skills, send it in to a guitar shop or to the seller and try to get a replacement)
The cause was the 15th and 16th fret were to high. the string would touch the fret completly and would not allow it to vibbrate freely.

This guitar played really nice right out of the box. I don't recall doing any adjustments to it. The price and the body size lend themselves nicely to sitting it around the house and using it to practice whenever I find time without worrying too much about it getting damaged. Came with two pick guards that you can choose between and putting it on was really simple. The sound is great. I was expecting the thin body to make it sound a little weird, but I don't really notice a difference between this and any of my other full body guitars.

For the price of the guitar this is a good deal. The quality is good and is what I would expect for the cost. Sounds very good when playing it through a amplifier. Needs a little bit of set up work and some different strings. Does not have a deep rich sound when it is not amplified. But I would expect that from a thin body guitar. The pre amp controls are not to bad either.

I have been playing for 40 years and have played some of the best made guitars in the world. This guitar is mind boggling, here is why. The Mahogany and Rosewood are the same quality as some of the best brands in the world. When I received the guitar there was a lot of buzzing on many frets, though this was due to the box being thrown all over the place by the UPS drivers. I know this because I watched them do it and then reported them. I simply adjusted the truss rod with the allen wrench that came with the guitar and the buzzing stopped immediately. Any pro will tell you when assessing a guitar for sound quality, you should i strum an open chord and hold the sound hole up to your ear to see how long the notes are sustained. The chord when played on this guitar sustained as loud and long as any Martin, Taylor, Guild, Ovation guitar I have ever played. The EQ for the electric is also astounding for the price. The only reason I can fathom that this high level of quality guitar can be produced at such a low price is due to the abysmal wages that are paid to the workers in China. It is going to be very very difficult for the U.S. A. to compete with China as the labor costs are impossible to match. Politics aside, this product has blown me away.

I would recommend this guitar for players of all skill levels. It arrived well packaged already set up. The electronics worked well and had a good sound played through my 25 watt line six amp. It is easily comparable to Taylor's, fenders, and Gibson for a much more affordable price. I have used it for a few months and it has not failed me and i don't think it will. When not plugged in it has a weak tone, as can be expected of a thin body electric acoustic, but when plugged in it is amassing. You would have to spend a lot more to get a better guitar.
